IACRA Walkthrough IntroductionThe following demonstration shows how to use IACRA in a
typical 14 CFR part 61 certification process scenario. This walkthrough shows the following:
1. The IACRA registration process.2. An applicant filling out the application.3. The RI selecting the application, following all items on the RI
Checklist, and adding a digital signature.4. The Certifying Officer (DE) selecting the application,
validating the airman’s ID, and reviewing the airman test results.
5. The applicant digitally signing the application.6. The CO (DE) entering test results, entering limitations, and
performing all of the other tasks on the Certifying Officer checklist.
7. The CO (DE) digitally signing the application.8. An example of a temporary certificate.

Transition
At this point, the Applicant Registration is complete and an FAA Tracking Number (FTN) has been generated for the applicant, which he records for future use.
The Recommending Instructor must now register (for the purposes of this overview – though in reality, the RI could have registered long before or even after the applicant).
The RI registration is far less complex than the applicant registration. This is due to the validation process IACRA uses to ensure that the data requested from the RI at registration is validated in national FAA databases as being accurate and current.
