INSIDER 2015 - 2016
“Education, education, education alone! Travelling
through many cities of Europe and observing in them the
comforts and education of even the poor people, there was
brought to my mind the state of our own poor people, and
I used to shed tears. What made the difference? Education
was the answer I got. Through education comes faith in
one's own Self.”
“The first duty is to educate the people”.

MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT
Information science is an interdisciplinary field primarily concerned with the analysis, collection,
classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, movement, dissemination, and protection of
information. Information science is one of the important branches of PESCE, Mandya. The
Department of Information science and Engineering takes pride in producing quality engineers over
the past 17 years. The credit for all the flowery results goes to the highly motivating staff, from
whom all students draw inspiration. The focus of the department is to provide students with in-
depth knowledge in the field of computer and information technology through the following two
academic programs. Our department faculty remain a constant source of inspiration to students in
order to achieve outstanding results and excellent placement records. The department has taken in
innovative teaching learning process to sharpen the young minds. We are proud to produce the first
PhD student in our college. I thank the entire faculty for their yeomen service.
It gives me immense pleasure to express my sense of appreciation for having brought out the annual
newsletter “INSIDER” of Department of Information Science & Engineering.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT
The Department of Information Science & Engineering of P.E.S. College of Engineering, Mandya
organizes an Industrial Visit to the Information Technology (IT) industry every year for IS&E
students. Usually the Industrial Visit will be organized with the prior permission and guidance of
HOD Dr. Minavathi along with the Department Industry Institute Interaction Cell Co-coordinator
Prof. Bramesh S M.
Marlabs Software (P) Ltd. provides information technology solutions in the areas of the Information
Technology Sector.Even though it is located 57 km from the PES College of Engineering campus, it
was an apt choice to the firm.Mr. Channakeshava K C, Senior General Manager of Mysore
Operations for Marlabs Software (P) Ltd was kind enough to grant permission for the visit on
producing a request letter from the Department of Information Science and Engineering. Marlab,
Mysore Operations is wonderful firm bridging the gap between software and human resourcefulness.
A strong business model and a passionate drive to make other businesses easier to function are few of
the reasons why Marlabs Inc is a success.
Word of Advice
Mr. Channakeshava K C being a former professor at P.E.S College of Engineering was kind enough
to share his thoughts to the future IT workforce. He said besides academic pursuit the youth have to
focus on what is current and be market ready. He went on to express the need for academic and the IT
industry to collaborate together to bring out globally employable skilled graduate.
