From the Principal’s Desk
Welcome back everyone! It has been so wonderful to
see all classes back at school this week. The children
have all settled into school learning and routines
extremely well. TEPS staff and I are extremely proud
of just how well students have transitioned back. They
should all be commended for their efforts, resilience
and bravery.
A little reminder for families to please use the
allocated gate when dropping and picking students
up. This is in line with our COVID Response Plan and
allows for less interaction between cohorts.
If your child is unwell, it’s important they get tested
and stay home until results are known. If a positive
result is given, we ask that parents/carers let the
school know straight away. If the school receives
communication that there has been a positive test
result and this is confirmed by NSW Health, we will
follow the Department of Education’s guidelines and
protocols. This is a summary of what will occur:
• Ensure all staff and families receive a formal
letter from the school to advise what to do if
they have been at school on a day when the
confirmed case was considered to be
infectious.
• Cease operations of the school for a period of
time (where it is deemed appropriate) and
contact tracing will occur to identify all
contacts. Information about the operational
status of the school will be sent out via the
Class Dojo page and the department’s
website.
• Enable thorough cleaning of the school site to
ensure the environment is clean and safe
prior to the school resuming onsite learning.
• Advise staff, students and parents who are
identified as close contacts and they will be
required to remain in home isolation for the
duration specified under NSW Health’s advice
for close contacts. In this situation, the school
will arrange learning from home.
• Advise staff, students and parents who are
identified as casual contacts to follow advise
from NSW Health and have a negative COVID
test prior to returning to school.
• During this period, educational material will
be made available through the department’s
learning from home hub to enable students to
continue learning from home.
• The school would notify parents/carers when
it is ready to resume onsite learning.
We, like all schools have COVID-safe plans and are
taking precautions to reduce the risk of COVID-19
transmission onsite. This includes all staff and
contractors must be comply with vaccination
requirements, wear a mask, have enhanced cleaning
and ensure classrooms have adequate ventilation.
Intentions for students wanting to apply for a
selective high school in 2023 are now being taken.
Selective high schools cater for academically gifted
students with high potential. If you would like to have
your Year 5 child considered for Year 7 selective high
school entry in 2023, you need to apply on the
internet using a valid email address (not the student’s
email address). The Selective High School Placement
Test will be held on Thursday, 10 March, 2022.
Detailed instructions on how to apply are found on
the below link.

News From the Canteen Due to the COVID-19 management the school canteen will be closed until further notice. Students will need to bring a packed recess, lunch and drink bottle each day. We thank you for your assistance and understanding during this period.

News From Breakfast Club

Please remind your child to pop into the Hub from

News From the Tassie Devils The Tassie Devils along with the Possums and Kangaroo Joeys have all enjoyed coming back to school! The students have had a wonderful time seeing their friends again and playing in the new playground. We have rekindled our love of learning at school and are settling into our familiar routines. There is a lot of exciting learning coming up and we are looking forward to being able to show off our amazing talents! On behalf of the Support Unit we would like to give a big shout out to all the parents for all their wonderful efforts during the home learning period.

News From the Koalas It is so lovely to see all of the Koalas back in the classroom after such a long and strange time apart from each other. We have spent the last week catching up with our friends, having lots of laughs, lots and lots of chatting and of course working on our sentences and collecting data for our graphs in maths. I am so proud of how far the Koalas have come in the last 13 weeks. Learning from home has definitely given them the ability to further develop their skills in technology which they have already demonstrated by the excellent work they are doing in class. Keep it up Koalas. I can’t wait to see what wonderful things we can achieve for the rest of the year.

News From the Platypuses K Platypus has arrived back at school with big smiles
on their faces and an awesome attitude towards their
learning! I would like to take this opportunity to thank
the parents and guardians of K Platypus for their
amazing work and support during Learning From
Home.
This week we have enjoyed reading the story “Don’t
Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” by Mo Willems and we
even created our own pigeons.

News From Ms Buckman It has been wonderful to see all our TEPS students
back in the classrooms! We have dived straight into
language lessons, and it has been great to see the
enthusiasm from all the students. In Kindy Platypus,
we played ‘I Spy’ and worked on extending our
sentences by adding more details. We started with “I
spy a girl.” Look what we finished with! Here are some
pictures of the Kindies writing ‘I spy’ clues for each
other.

News From Mr Fisher
The magpies wrote some letters to our local MP Mr.
Mark Taylor. No topic was given, but it had to be
about a community issue that was important to each
student. Topics ranged from youth mental health to
housing affordability and the depth of thought was
impressive. I delivered them to Mr Taylor’s office after
school on Thursday and he read them and addressed
the class on Friday. It’s important that our youth know
they have a voice and how to use it, and that they
matter.

Water is the best drink. It has no added sugar. Fruit juice, soft drink, sports drinks and cordials have a lot of sugar. Kids should not drink these every day. Tap water is the best choice. Most tap water contains fluoride which helps kids grow strong teeth.
