Pressure Sensors from IMES Long life and Precise
Going back to 1996, IMES was formed
to exploit the excellent performance and
longevity of its robust cylinder pressure
sensors employing TION thin f ilm
measuring technology. Our sensors are
a t t he h ea rt o f a ll o ur p ro du ct s
associated with cylinder pressure
measurement and are now in their
fourth generation.
They are affordable and their robustness
and performance has been proven in
many applications. As a result, standard
effective l ife is more than 16,000
operating hours on both Diesel and Gas
Engines. On this basis we believe theyoffer the best combination of robust
ness, reliability, price and above all
accuracyavailableonthemarket.
IMES pressure sensor type HTT04 hastype approval certificate from Bureau
Veritas (BV) and from Det Norske Veritas
(DNV) for Marine Engines . Other type
approval certif ications are in pre
paration.
For Gas Compressor application the
HTT04 sensor fulfilled ATEX 95 re
quirements for explosion proof zone.

HTT04 cylinder pressure sensor
CPS01 cylinder pressure sensor
The most commenly used sensor type is
the HTT04 sensor wi th thread
M14*1,25. The HTT04 sensor head is
available with different tube length and
different cable lenght between sensor
head and signal condition unit (SCU).
Important operating data are stored in
the SCU and can be read via serial inter
face. More than 25.000 sensors are
delivered for different closed loop
control applications.
The CPS sensor with M10x1 thread is
designed for application on medium
and high speed Engines. The CPS
sensor is installed at cylinder head,
where heat can be dissapeated by the
cylinder cooling system. The sensor has
been designed for minimum 16.000
operatinghours.

Designed for periodic monitoring of
cylinder pressure on Diesel Engines, the
Electronic Indicator EPMXP device can
record cylinder pressure values on a
maximum of 20cylinderson twostroke
Diesel Engines operating at speeds of
40 to 300 rpm and on fourstroke
medium and high speed Diesels with
ratedspeedsfrom200to1500rpm.
Central to its performance is the provenaccuracy, reliability, longevity and cost
effectiveness of IMES' advanced
pressure sensors employing TION thin
film technology.
The EPMXP has proven considerably
simpler and more accurate than with
mechanical engine indicators. After
acquisition recorded data can be
downloaded immediately to a PC or
notebook via a USB cable and IMES
visualisation and data processing
software used to process the data at
leisure.
Transmitting the data by telephone line
or the Internet makes them available for
expert analysis. An optional software
upgrade allows power calculation of
every cylinder.

CMS Cargo Box allows pressures on up
to 20 cylinders to be monitored and
based on the data acquired engine
o p er a t i n g p a ra m et e rs s e t a n d
optimised.
With a special emphasis on dualfuel
Gas Engines, CMS Cargo Box targets
both power plants and Dual Fuel Diesel
electric (DFDE) propulsion and onboard
power generation systems on LNGcarriers and, if current concepts
become reality, cruise ships.
A part icular emphasis on modern
engines with common rail fuel injection
or advanced gas admission is balancing
ofcylinderoutputs.
Another application of CMS Cargo Box
is the use on two stroke, low speed
Diesel Engines in order to be able to
balance cylinder outputs better with
special emphasis on optimising valve
timing on the latest generations of
electronically controlled two strokes.,

The IPT sensor for Compressor applications

The principle features of the IPT sensoris high accuracy, high pressure and high
resistance against vibration. FortheUS
market the IPT sensor has CUL ap
proval: Class 1, Div 2, Group D. The IPT
sensor for Compressor application is
composed of two primary parts, the
sensor head with his sensing element
and the signal condition unit (SCU).
The screenshot on the right side shows
the comparison of an IPT sensor to a
piezoelectric reference sensor with
excellent results. More than 2.000 IPT
sensors are installed on Compressor
applications.
