GRETA GWEN GUSTAFSON

Experienced nonprofit communicator with a background in public and media relations. Current Media Relations Intern for the American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Dedicated member of the elected board for American University’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). A self-motivated go-getter who enjoys working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

PRESS RELEASEFor both school and during my internship at the

American Red Cross, I have written numerous press releases. The one below was written for the American

Red Cross and is available on the Red Cross website here.

MEDIA ADVISORYI have also had experience in writing media

advisories. The one here was utilized for American Red Cross Giving Day in 2016 to alert reporters

of the upcoming annual fundraiser.

PITCH LETTERAt my internship at the Red Cross, I have been

responsible for numerous pitching efforts. From distributing summer safety tips, to letting reporters know about the history of the Donut

Dollies, I am responsible for sending pitch emails and reaching out to reporters.

BLOG POSTBelow is a blog post about Thanksgiving cooking

safety that was contributed to the Red Cross’s national blog. In addition to the featured post, I

have blogged about various holiday safety tips and several Red Cross events.

CRISIS COMMUNICATION

PLANFor my Crisis Communications course my senior year, I created a crisis plan for the American Red Cross in

the case of negative press surrounding unequal distribution of relief to diverse communities during

disaster.

COMPREHENSIVE CAMPAIGN PITCH

For my senior capstone, we were divided into PR agency teams to compete for the business of National Geographic Channel. Myself and three other team members spent the semester creating this comprehensive PR plan forNational

Geographic Channel’s new show MARS. We presented the project to members of the National Geographic

Channel communication team at the end of the project.
