Crash injures teenagerPOLICE expect to lay further charges

over a two-car collision that left ateenager with serious head injuries in

the early hours of Saturday.The 18-year-old, from Goulburn, was in

a serious but improving condition inCanberra Hospital yesterday after beingairlifted from the crash scene.

Police Rescue had to free her from theHyundai Accent hatchback she had beendriving west along Crookwell Rd at 3am.Her 19-year-old male front seat passengersustained minor injuries.

Officers have charged a 30-year-oldGoulburn man with negligent drivingcausing grievous bodily harm. He

decamped from the scene, police alleged.The man handed himself into police five

hours later, Inspector Rob Post said.He and his three passengers were driv-

ing south on Marys Mount Rd in a 2001Holden Calais sedan when it impactedwith the hatchback.

The 18-year-old girl in the Hyundai wastrapped before being flown to CanberraHospital by Snowy Hydro SouthCare heli-copter with serious head injuries andmultiple fractures, police said.

A 20-year-old woman who was travellingin the rear seat of the sedan also sus-tained multiple fractures, while the 28-year-old male front passenger and17-year-old male rear passenger escapedwith minor injuries.

They were taken to Goulburn BaseHospital after being treated at the sceneby NSW Ambulance paramedics. OnSaturday some of them underwent x-raysand scans.

The 30-year-old was also later taken to

hospital for mandatory blood tests.Four ambulances and NSW Fire and

Rescue also attended the scene, the latteras a precaution.

All of the people involved were fromGoulburn.

Inspector Post said on Saturday therewas a “high possibility” of further chargespending.
