What is Operator Benchmarking?
• Networks are evaluated – From the user perspective
– Over given market area
– Across the entire workday
– Measurements are performed on street level
– Both voice (CS) and data (PS) services
• Importance of benchmarking for an operator– Determine QoS provided by
networks in a given area
– Determine standing relative to other operators
– Helps determine network growth direction
– Provides valuable engineering data
– Provides data used in marketing, advertising, etc.
Benchmarking is a simultaneous performance evaluation of several cellular networks

Quality gates and check points
For performing a comprehensive Benchmarking evaluation major quality gates needs to be known and addressed to guarantee the integrity of the final report
Major quality gates and check points:
– Define methodologies
– Managing DT campaigns
– Using correct Inputs• DT configuration
• Settings and thresholds
• Defining QoS (Ranking)

Quality gates and check pointsUsing correct Inputs
Verification that the collected data matches the defined campaign
scope is crucial to guarantee the integrity of the final report.
Key points to consider when monitoring the data quality of a
benchmarking campaign:
BM
Co

pts
• Configuration changes on the equipment setup
• Matching equipment setup with script methodology
• Matching drive test and drive route
• Having proper thresholds to validate the data integrity
• Data integrity validation of critical KPIs like: Signal level,
Signal quality, Accessibility, Retainability, MOS, Application
success rate and Throughput
• Detect and discard invalid files
• Having proper thresholds to produce daily and final reports
• Have a defined formula for final QoS (KQI) ranking of the
operators

Quality gates and check pointsManaging DT Campaigns
There are two ways of processing and managing DT BM campaigns:
• Finished campaign
– Processing and report generation after ALL data is collected
– Risk of finding flaws on final report due to the lack of quality
control of the collected data.
• May cause massive re-drive, loss of time and $$
• On going campaign
– Processing and report generation on daily basis
– Frequent data integrity inspection to initiate smaller scale re-
drive
– Improves the quality on the final report

Standard WorkflowManual, inefficient, and costly processes:• Time consuming tasks conducted by expensive engineering resources.• Manual quality control and data integrity checks prone to human error. • Repeated drives stemming from conflicting data integrity.
Dispersed products for silo-based applications:• Drive test is typically applied to rollout, acceptance, new technologies, swap
out, optimization, benchmarking, trouble ticket and customer care.• A lack of single, integrated solution to function across network applications
handicaps the operators’ ability to catch up with market demands.
Detached solutions from different vendors:• Multiple data feeds requires multiple solutions from different vendors.• Processing high volumes of data in different solutions from multiple vendors
increases costs, requires training and takes longer to produce reports.
Inefficient resource utilization:• Resource management not commensurate to customer SLA’s.• Missed SLA targets causing penalties or loss in monetizing assets.

Managing Campaigns
There are two ways of processing and managing campaigns:
• Finished campaign
– Processing, data integrity check and report generation after ALL
data is collected and available.
– System will deactivate the project once all process is done.
– Used for small campaigns like SSV, VIP route and CA.
• On going campaign
– Processing, data integrity check and report generation on daily
basis.
– Project stays active looking for new files until admin user
deactivate it.
– Used for larger campaigns like BM, Go/No-Go and On-going
optimization.

Managing CampaignFile Management
The file and Report management UI will allow the user to see which files
pass or fail on the integrity check.
Users will be able to change file status and re-
generate reports.
Users will be able to send emails to ‘field’ individuals, to recollect certain files and
drive routes that did not pass the integrity checks.

Dashboards▪ Dashboards provide interactive reporting
that presents data in an organized and
analytical view.
▪ There are three different types of
dashboard reports.
✓ Daily summary.
✓ Cumulative summary.
✓ Final campaign report.
▪ While navigating on network related
performance issues, the user will be
able to invoke IDC for further drill down.
▪ For drive test data the BM dashboard is
organized in:
✓ General information.
✓ Voice call performance.
✓ Data call performance.
✓ Scanner performance.
✓ SWOT analysis.
