Aim to arrive at school 15 minutes prior

to an exam AT THE VERY LATEST! It is

much better to leave yourself a safety

margin on timings in case of problems

with the journey. Not in uniform! A.M. - Start to go into exam rooms at

8.30am- so be outside in the yard by 8.15am P.M. - Start to go into exam at 1.30pm so be

outside in the yard by 1.15pm.

When taking exams, bags and coats should be left in the baskets outside of the room.

Because of this, there are some things to be considered – money, keys, valuables etc. We would suggest that you keep money and keys with you (therefore you need to be wearing something with a pocket).

Simple – don’t bring one If you have to…………. place any bag or coat

in one of the exam cages in the dining room 10 minutes before the exam is due to start. These will be locked away during the exams

Collect your coat and bag at the end of the exam from the cages.

No phones in pockets.

TO BE SAFE – LEAVE YOUR PHONE AT HOME you do not NEED it for the exam!

“Phones – Students must not have mobiles phones in their possession (either on or off). They must be switched off in your bag or handed in to the invigilators before the exam, but the school takes no responsibility for them. This is very important – if a phone is found, there is a good chance that your whole exams will be cancelled.”

You should not have notes, pagers, MP3 players etc in your possession.

You should bring black pens, pencils, rubber, calculator and any other writing equipment needed to your exams.

Only clear pencil cases are allowed on your desk, any others should be left in your bag.

Do not use gel pens – this is because many of the exam papers are now scanned and sent electronically for marking – We are told gel pens do not scan well.

Correction fluid must not be used.

There is absolutely no talking or communication between students once you enter the exam hall.

If you have any questions, you should raise your hand once seated and an invigilator will come to you.

No food in exam hall.

Water bottles are allowed in the exam hall if necessary. These should be clear bottles with a spill-proof cap. There should be no label on the bottle

If you are genuinely VERY ill and unable to attend an exam, it is vital that you telephone the school straightaway.

You really don’t want to miss any exam for any reason. If you miss an exam through illness, you must have a

doctor’s letter detailing your symptoms and illness, signed and dated from the doctor.

Please be aware that if you do not attend an exam without a valid reason, you will be charged for that exam.

7.45-8.10 In classrooms (see time tables) Just like in a lesson, the starter or “connect

activity” will get you calm, focused and in the right frame of mind, ready to face the exam with confidence.

Research has proved that these really help give students the edge in exams.

Go to the toilet before your exam. Assemble quietly and calmly outside the

exam room, about 10 minutes before the exam i.e. 8.20am or 1.20pm. Keep calm!

Check the seating plan on the windows, know your seat number, who will be in front of you, who is behind you in the exam room.

Only take small sips of water, not big glugs. Get pencil case and/or calculator out of your

bag BEFORE entering the exam room.

ALL examinations have to be seated in alphabetical order.

Please line up in silence in alphabetical order with your bag in one hand and your essential exam equipment in the other.

Wait quietly focusing and keeping calm and clear minded.

Come straight in as soon as you hear your name.

Stay in the correct order as you are directed to your seat.

Do not attempt to communicate with any other candidate.

If you still have a phone on you at this stage, hand it to an invigilator (switched off completely), with your name on it.
