Given that medicine is an art as well as a science, it’s inevitable that reasonable doctors will disagree on which practices are best. How can we take this disagreement into account by incorporating clinical judgment into guidelines on best practices?
Best practice guidelines are designed for populations of patients and there is an inevitable challenge when providers are asked to make decisions for individuals patients
Providers should focus on delivering care that creates value for patients
Our research group has created a tool called “The Value Framework.” It’s a simple and concise framework to help providers decide if the medical intervention will create value for their patients.
