Evernote Overview

Evernote is a cross-platform application/cloud-based service that servesas an easily searchable centralized modern workspace for all your work,reference material, and knowledge.

Almost any media type (images, text, business cards, emails, webpages, live or saved photos, paper scans, PDFs, hand-written and audionotes, etc.) can be saved and indexed, organized into Notebooks andStacks.

Notebooks, and the notes within them, can be configured for sharing,collaboration, in-app discussion, or protected to provide access toparticipating Evernote and Non Evernote users. Tags provide a quickway to filter notes by keyword or key phrases.

Cloud-based, Evernote is accessible anywhere — even offline. Your dataand/or team data is accessible from all popular web browsers, desktopapplication (Mac & Windows), mobile phone or tablet (iPhone, Android orWindows).

Take notesA note is just what it sounds like—any piece of information or idea youwant to save for later. You can keep pretty much any type of content in anote.

Many ways to take notes

You can keep pretty much any type of content in a note. Here are someideas:

Type, write, or even record audio notes from any meeting.Annotate photos and PDFs for quick communication with teamsworking remotely in field offices or building sites.Photos of anything that might inspire new ideas, new designs, or

new compositions.Snap photos of a whiteboard or Post-it ® Notes from a brainstormsession.Scan contracts, legal documents, receipts, or business cards.Use your computer, mobile phone, or tablet to create any kind ofnote and recall them as needed.

Add other types of content to a noteWhen you select or tap to edit your note, select from the available iconsthat appear in the note editor:

Attach files of any kind

Add checkboxes (clickable)

Add bulleted and numbered lists

Add photos from your camera roll

Take a photo with your camera or webcam

Record audio

Organize with notebooksNotebooks are collections of notes. Every note you create is saved to anotebook. By default, Evernote saves notes to the notebook that camewith your new account. Create additional notebooks to organize yournotes around the topics that matter to you and your team.

Organize your notes so they'll be easier to find later. You can organizenotes however you want to – by project, product, department, client, orquarter, for example.

Organize with tags

What can I do with tags?Tags let you add keywords to notes, making them easier to find andbrowse when you’ve got a lot of them. Use tags when a note mightapply to more than one category or when you want to filter results in a

certain notebook by a keyword. You could use tags to associate noteswith categories, memories or locations.

Examples:

Project management: Add a tag to identify the project state(active, next, completed) or to the spec number or feature.Task management: Add a priority label to notes (p1, p2, p3).Recruiting: Add a tag for the location of a position or the hiringmanager (nyc, tokyo).Research: Add a tag for the relevant company or project

Find what you needEverything in Evernote is searchable, including the contents of notes,notebooks, tags, and attachments.

Evernote’s search lets you get really granular, but this just means youhave a lot of ways to find what you are looking for.

You can search for notes and notebooks by:

Keywords or tagsContact info in business cardsHandwritten or typed text in photosText in attached documents and PDFsNotebooks other colleagues have sharedTeam members who know about a topic at your companyNotes related to internet search results (with Evernote Web Clipper)

You can search within your entire Evernote account, or filter bynotebook, creation or update date, and geographical location where thenote was created. If you use a particular search frequently, you can saveand add it to your shortcuts for quick access. Evernotealso offers advanced search syntax for even more targeted searching.

Share notesEvernote makes it easy to share notes with others. Share notes such asmeeting agendas, design ideas clipped from the web, travel itineraries,reports, or project task lists.
