At the very end, the hosting pupils were asked to answer qu-
estions about their perception of the stay. The survey enabled to
discover their feelings, define changes they felt and assess positive
development of their linguistic and social skills.
We invite you to get acquainted with the results of the sur-
vey we carried out.
What have you found out about your
language skills during the visit?
They found out, that they are able to speak English,
Still, they have to learn a lot.
If they don´t know the right word, they can replace or explain
it.
They used their acquired knowledge in real situations.
What was surprising for you?
They could communicate in English quite well.
They found good friends.
What are differences between your habits
and those of your friends?
The habits are quite similar.
There are some different traditions.
Different eating habits or daily routines were observed.
How did you spend your free time?
They spent their free time mostly together with other host
kids and their schoolmates.
They played games, talked about themselves, listened to the
music, played musical instruments, had fun.
Write 3 adjectives that characterize best
the stay in Košice.
The most common adjectives were: funny, friendly, intere-
sting
More: new, nice, positive, good, educative
What are the eating habits that exist in your
friends´ country?
Most of them are very similar.
Cooked lunch at school versus lunch made at home.
Eating more vegetables.
Are you still in touch with your friend?
If yes, how often?
Most of them have stayed in contact via social networks. (In
average twice a month).
Did anything disappoint you?
Most of the answers were that everything was just perfect.
Some kids were too small or couldn´t speak English to enjoy
fully the project.
There was very short time for visiting all the interesting pla-
ces in our city.
Most children learnt they could communicate with ease, they
have quite rich vocabulary. If there is something they don´t
understand, they can explain the meaning. They could stay in
a foreign country. They are not shy anymore.
Many pupils realised, how important it is to learn languages.
They want to learn more because they discovered the utility
of speaking a foreign language in everyday life.
They made friends very easily and tried to be hospitable.
What have you learnt about yourself during
the visit?
