Time  to  Update  Spring  Décor  By  Ecoline  Windows  April  11,  2014       Spring  is  here  and  it’s  time  to  update  your  home  with  a  fresh  style,  without  breaking  the  piggy  bank.  Spring  is  the  perfect  time  to  make  a  few  changes  whether  you  are  a  new  homeowner,  renting,  or  have  lived  there  for  years.  It  will  change  your  living  space  and  energize  you  for  the  months  to  come.  

The  most  drastic  and  affordable  way  to  update  your  living  space  is  to  slap  on  a  fresh  coat  of  paint.  Select  a  bright  color  or  something  that  compliments  what  you  already  have  in  your  home.  There  have  been  great  advances  in  technology  that  allow  you  upload  pictures  of  your  space  and  then  try  out  different  colors  on  the  computer  to  see  if  you  might  like  it.  Also,  if  you  are  on  a  budget  and  you  don’t  want  to  paint  an  entire  room,  for  example  just  one  wall  you  can  purchase  “oops  paint”  from  Home  Depot.  These  are  cans  of  paint  that  someone  purchased  and  didn’t  like  so  they  returned  the  opened  can  to  the  store.  These  are  offered  by  the  home  appliance  store  at  a  great  discount.  

Another  great  way  to  freshen  your  living  space  is  to  experiment  with  textiles.  This  can  be  adapted  to  fit  any  budget,  by  swapping  out  pillows,  bedding,  rugs,  shower  curtains,  or  drapery.  Adding  or  adjusting  these  items  can  brighten  up,  darken,  or  bring  great  texture  to  any  space.  Interior  designer  Cheryl  Luckett  says  of  the  different  textiles,  they  can  “be  changed  in  and  out  seasonally…Just  hanging  a  new  piece  of  fabric  on  the  wall  can  really  change  a  look  drastically.  You  can  do  a  no-­‐sew  drape,  and  right  now  that’s  what’s  in  style-­‐  the  clean  lines  and  just  a  drapery  panel  without  all  of  the  fru  fru  and  valiances.  You  can  do  that  without  even  being  able  to  sew.”  

Another,  free  tip  for  changing  your  space  is  to  rearrange  furniture.  In  the  winter  you  may  have  moved  things  around  to  accommodate  decorations  like  Christmas  trees.  Now  is  the  time  to  reposition  tables  and  chairs  to  make  them  fit  your  comfort  and  the  mood  of  the  spring  and  summer  seasons.  Change  things  up  in  your  living  space,  you  will  enjoy  the  results.
