TO AN ENTHUSIASTIC CROWD We had such a huge response that we are

treating you to 2 pages of Opening photos!!

We were also honoured that family mem-

bers of both men were present and were

absolutely stunned by the information that

was on view! The Exhibit will remain open

for viewing until November 4, Monday-

Friday 9am—5pm and by appointments

after hours. We are hoping that schools will

book trips for their students. Please join us

for our upcoming Lecture Series and enter-

tainment every Thursday and the ‘Sunrise”

concert with Andrew Jones of Spirit House

on Thursday, November 4—be on the look-

Roddie Pinder was born and grew up in

Spanish Wells, Eleuthera, Bahamas. A for-

mer Out Island Commissioner, Roddie’s love

for woodworking lay dormant until he became

friends with Edwin Ferguson from Nassau

who was well known for making wooden

spinning tops. After the death of another

family friend, James Lowe, the family gave

Roddie his lathe and a new career was born.

Roddie studied briefly with world renowned

wood turner Rude Ofolnik and has never

looked back. He uses primarily native woods

along with other exotic hard woods.

Roddie is well known as the premiere wood

turner in The Bahamas and presently works

out of his basement workshop on Russell

Island, Spanish Wells. His work can be found

in collections locally and internationally.

Max Taylor’s second Show

this year, “Jazzblutings” will

Open on Wednesday, No-

vember 17 and be on display

until Friday December 10.

This will be a show of smaller

acrylic paintings depicting mu-

sicians as well as snippets of

Bahamian life.

NOVEMBER 20—DECEMBER 10

We are very excited about the

upcoming Artists of The Ba-

hamas Exhibition which will take place November 20 - De-

cember 10 and display the

artwork of the 11 artists fea-

tured in this wonderful docu-

mentary produced by Karen

Arthur & Tom Neuwirth. The

Exhibition will be mounted at

five different participating gal-

leries. Each gallery will fea-

ture specific artists at their lo-

cation. It promises to be an

amazing event! For more in-

MAX TAYLOR– We have a new

shipment of fabulous abstract ce-

ramic bowls from Max as well as

a few with profiles. These have

been fired twice so they have a

rich colour and shine.

MELISSA MAURA – Melissa has

delivered several smaller wooden

shaped boats which she calls

“Potcake Smacks”. Guarded by

their loyal Bahamian ‘potcakes’

with personalities (’potcake’ is the

local name for the Bahamian

dogs of all breeds!) these are

definitely conversation pieces.

MICK GUY - Mick recycles the wood from abandoned homes or

boats to make his lovely bowls

and plates. We are happy to

have another selection in stock.

CHANTAL BETHEL—A new oil

painting from this Freeport artist

mirrors the fluidity of movement

of the brightly dressed majestic

dancers amidst the tranquil tur-

quoise background.

EXPECTED ……... A new series
