• January 12, 2010, 7.0-magnitude quake• 1.5 million homeless• ShelterBox responded immediately using

prepositioned stock.• 7,000 boxes delivered in 4 days• More than 28,000 in total

ShelterBox Response Team Training

• ShelterBox Response Teams (SRT) assess the need and distribute boxes on the ground

• Undergo vigorous training in field operations• ShelterBox has SRT volunteers worldwide to enable

instant response to disasters, saving time and donors’ money.

New Zealand Earthquake

• February 23, 2011, 6.3-magnitude quake struck Christchurch• SRT: Arnold Kelly (NZ), Lyndon Tamblyn (NZ), Walter van der Kley

(NZ) in the area – immediately began to assess the need.

Invest in supplies

• Some ShelterBox lifesaving items can take a long time to be manufactured.

• Need time to invest in them to be pre-packed.

• Extra supplies stored at HQ warehouse.
