Motivation: The Palladio Component Model (PCM) is an approach for modeling component-based software architectures with the aim to predict the quality of software architectures at design time. The PCM allows to explicitly model the influence factors on the quality of components, e,g. the execution environment or the usage of the components. Modern virtualization technologies and trends to-wards Cloud Computing result in changing server landscape structures such that the demand for high-end enterprise systems, e.g. the mainframe IBM System z, is on constant rise. However, such virtualized storage environments were not the target domains of the PCM. Thesis Goals: The goal of this thesis is to extend the Palladio Component Model for its application in virtualized storage environments. For this purpose, the focus is to predict the performance of I/O-intensive applications in virtualization. To realize this approach, professional tools and state-of-the-art industry technol-ogy such as the IBM System z will be used. We offer:
