PROTOCOLS
Broadband• A broadband is a high capacity transmission that uses a wide range of
frequencies. We use broadband connect to the internet.3G/4G• 4G is the fourth generation of wireless internet connection on devices. It is a lot
faster than 3G. 4G and 3G allows us to connect to the Internet on a phone. GPRS• GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service, it is mobile data service which is
2G/3G. Also allows you to use the internet through your mobile phone however it is bad connection.
Bluetooth• Bluetooth is short range wireless connection of electronic devices. It can transfer
files wirelessly between devices
METHODS
Email• An email is messages distributed from one device to another via network and
having an email address. IM• An IM stands for instant message. Sending and receiving a message in real time.
Examples are Facebook Messenger and iMessage.SMS (Short Message Service) / MMS (Multi Media Service)• A standard text message which can contain multimedia content. This allows us to
send and receive messages longer than 160 characters and without broadband or mobile data connection.
Chat Groups• A Chat group is a website service which provides users to talk in real time. You
can do this buy downloads apps and using various websites.
Blogs• A blog is a regularly updated website which is normally ran by one person. A blog
allows individuals to write about whatever topic they desire.WIKIS• A wiki is a database created by a community of users that can edit information.
This allows people to read information and update and edit it. Wikipedia is an example.
MMPRPG• An MMPRPG is a multiplayer role play game. You can download these as apps and
use them via the internet.Forums• Ideas and views that can be exchanged. It allows data base between people.
SERVICES
WWW• WWW stands for the World Wide Web. This is the start of the web address.ISP• ISP stands for internet service power. Website building of virtual hosting.
Example is Sky Broadband.Domains• An area owned by a particular ruler for example Google. They are used in order
to identify one or more ID addresses.Web 3.0 • The evolution of the web, its an extension of 2.0. An example of this is when the
internet gives you option when you search for something.
