Pseudoflow Pit Optimization Algorithm

v5.0

Pit Optimization

Pit Optimization was introduced to Deswik.CAD in v4.2

- Function is present in Tools|Geological Models|Datamine Commands

- Accessed through the Advanced Open Pit Metals licensed functionality

Up until V5.0 has worked upon the Lerchs-Grossman algorithm

What’s new in v5.0?

Change in algorithm used from Lerchs-Grossman to

Pseudoflow

What’s Pseudoflow?

Alternative pit optimization algorithm – simply faster Provides the same resultant pit shells as Lerchs-Grossman

Is more efficient at removing “redundant” options and therefore reduces processing requirements

How much faster?

Lerchs-Grossman

Pseudoflow

Variations – “Hill of Value”

Additional speed of the Pseudoflow algorithm allows for many more iterations to be run

Allows for the generation of many options and determination of what the key drivers are for ultimate pit shell size

Variations - Iterations

Here we set the number of iterations to run.

Variations – X and Y Variables

Here we set the value for the X Column (in this case it Is a random number based on a triangular distribution)

Here we set the value for the Y Column (in this case it is a random number based on a normal distribution)

Variations - Formulae

Here you can see the dilution is multiplied by the X Value

Formulae edited by clicking in here

Variations – Formulae Continued

Here you can see the mining cost is multiplied by the Y Value

Variations – Results

All of the 100 iterations ultimate pit results are written to this excel file.

Variations – Results Contd.

Multiple runs can be added here. So you can understand sensitivities.

Results – Results Contd.

Graphic Results – Results Contd.
