Lectura, as de Hoy Eclesiástico 3:3-7, 14-17

Salmo 127:1-2, 3, 4-5 Colosenses 3:12-21

Mateo 2:13-15, 19-23

Jesus is born into a specific family. His experiences

within that family helped him mature and grow in

his knowledge and intimacy of God and God’s love.

In the family, all human beings first meet with ac-

ceptance, nurture, education, and we hope a

knowledge of God. Today the family seems to be fall-

ing apart in our country. Yet without a nurturing

environment for children, it is impossible for them to

grow up into healthy adults. How can we encourage

and foster family life within our parish and commu-

nity? Do we offer help to families in trouble either

financially or emotionally? Is marriage enrichment

a central part of our parish life, and do we invite the

larger community of married people to join us in

such workshops? How can we help link families to

one another? Families with newborns go through

certain common crises and challenges. They often

come to us for baptism. How might our community

offer them continued community and support as they

begin to raise their children? The same is true for

parents of teenagers—a very difficult rite of passage

both for the teens and their families. How can our

parish community resources and a supportive com-

munity and environment enable teens to pass

through these exciting and difficult years? And how

can we help the parents of teenagers share their ex-

periences, their struggles, and their successes with

one another? What can our church actually do to

help families? We can start by asking our own fami-

ly members what they seek and need for their

strength and growth.

mo.

Podemos comenzar

preguntando a nuestros propios familiares qué buscan

y necesitan para su fortaleza y crecimiento.
