Objectives1. Analyze and evaluate figurative language in Poetry.

2. Demonstrate a mastery of Romeo and Juliet Act I.

3. Identify Verbals and Analyze sentences for their effect

Thursday morning- 4 sources and annotations

Close reading 4 Poetry due Friday

Remember: You will have a quiz after each Act in Romeo and Juliet

warm up:Instructions: Rewrite the following sentences placing the participial phrases where they should be placed. 1. Carl served me a malt dressed in his new uniform.

2. We found our cat walking home from school. 3. I was stung by a bee pruning my trees.

Notebook check !!!!! Take out your binders and have your binders ready to find the items I ask for.

Research Paper- source evaluations• Have your sources out and find the source evaluations on my

wiki.

• You must fill in one of these evaluations for each source you have chosen .

• Once your personal evaluations are completed then share it with your partner to evaluate.

• When you both evaluate the sources- print them out and bring them to class(come after school and print them out in my classroom- or go to the media center if you do not have a printer.)

R&J with Figurative Language

• We will read R & J for figurative language.

• How does it affect the meaning of the work?

• Identify different uses for figurative language in the work.
