Curriculum WeekYear 6

Thailand

For Creative Curriculum Week Year 6 studied Thailand.

It was great fun and we learned lots about Thai life.

One of the activities that we did was creating air drying clay elephants.

We loved shaping the clay with our fingers and putting them together in a herd.

Another activity that we enjoyed was creating origami lotus flowers.

They were quite tricky to do at first, but once you got the hang of them, they were quite easy.

When all of the class’s flowers were put on the display board they looked amazing.

During the week we also tried some Thai food. Most of it was delicious, and we would try eating it again!

Later on in the week we had some visitors in to see us. The uncle of two of our Year 6 pupils came in to talk about his life in Thailand as he had lived there for one year.

He taught us how to greet people in Thai.

Also a Buddhist Monk visited us and he answered a lot of our questions.

He even performed a mini ceremony for us!

Finally we had a drama group called Future Faces who did some drama exercises based on a traditional Thai story that we had read called the Umbrella Queen.

That was great fun!
