Mission Statement: Quality Catholic Education
Our Vision: A supportive environment where we live our faith and celebrate our learning in life. At St Thomas Aquinas School we are CHASERS. We live through our Mercy Values of: Compassion,
Hospitality, Social Justice, Excellence, Respect, Service.
Dear School Families,
This term seems to be absolutely racing along. All classes are immersed in preparing for our
upcoming school production. As I walk down the corridor in the afternoons I hear the sounds of
performances coming together, whether it be performing the scenes or musical numbers the
atmosphere is electric. I can see that our Mercy values are definitely shining through in each of
the story lines. Please keep those important dates free to attend our matinee and evening
performances in October, our students are brimming with excitement.
Last week I was very proud of the accomplishments of our senior students in their overnight
Caritas challenge. As a group, they showed resilience in experiencing life as they would in South
Sudan by taking part in a number of activities like eating basic foods and sleeping in cardboard
boxes. It was absolutely wonderful to see them assimilating into the community by carrying out
acts of Service for our parishioners. I know our children learnt a lot through this rich learning
experience. Thank you to the teachers who supported Room Four by staying the night at school
and the parents who provided our tamariki with food.
A large number of our students have been taking part in REAP sessions this term. These sessions
provide our students with opportunities to extend their knowledge and skills in a range of
curriculum areas. Currently our students have been learning about coding within Robotics,
problem solving in mathematics and about testing scientific theories through science
experiments. We continue to look for ways to support and extend our students across all
curriculum areas.
Next week I am looking forward to heading to Camp Columba with our Room Two students
alongside Mr Maley and a group of parents. We will no doubt have great memories to share on
our return.
I hope our farming families are coping well
in this busy season. We pray that you
receive the blessings of new life from God.

May God bless you,
