Developed from Persians but have short fur

Most numerous registrations. Long fluffy hair, stocky body with flat face.

Persian

Originated in Maine. First mentioned in literature in 1861. Long, shaggy coat.

Maine Coon

Bred for Persian characteristics except has short hair for easier maintenance

Siamese

Blue eyes, light bodies, colored points

5 Ragdoll

Ragdolls are large, laid-back, semi longhaired cats with captivating blue eyes. Males weight 15 to 20 lbs.

Abyssinian – one of the oldest known breeds. May trace back thousands of years but origin in dispute. Popular short hair breed.

7BirmanThe Birman cat is

believed to have originated in Burma, where it was considered sacred, the companion cat of the Kittah priests

8 American ShorthairA mixture of many different early American cats. The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) chose to officially recognize this lovely cat as one of its first five registered breeds in 1906.

9 Oriental

Orientals represent a diverse group of cats with over 300 different colors and patterns. Their foundation is from the Siamese breed.

10 SphynzIn 1966 a domestic cat gave birth to a hairless kitten in Toronto, Canada. It was discovered to be a natural mutation and the Sphynx cat, as we know it today, came into existence.

12 British Shorthair

Permanent smile because of prominent, round whisker pads. Developed from garden cat in England. First English cat to show with pedigree at English cat shows.
