PurposeoftheAssessment

Context:

TheestablishmentofELIERICbringsanewperspectiveonELIasasingleinternationalorganizationandnotasthreeseparateinvestmentprojects.

Generalpurpose:

• InthecontextoftheestablishmentofELIERIC,useofthe‘GeneralprotocolforRIsocietalimpactassessment’toidentifyandunderstandcoreelementsofwhatcouldbeELIERIC’sfutureimpactstrategy.

• ThereportismeanttoserveasareferencebasistothefutureELIERICGeneralAssemblytodefinestrategiesrelatedtoimpact(theELIERICStatutescallforregularassessmentsoftheimpactofELIERIC’sactivitiesinthehostingregions,inEuropeandinternationally.

ApproachandEffort

Approach:• UseoftheELIERICstatutorydocumentasreference,assumingitreflectsthe

expectationsandthereforetheperspectiveoftheFoundingMembersonthewheretheorganisationshouldfocusitsimpactinpriority.

• “Translate”intoessentialimpactareasandunderstandwhatstrategiesandactivitiesshouldbeconsideredtomaximiseimpact.

• Impactconsideredbothasachangeortheresultandasaprocess.Theimpactpathwaysarethereforeapproachedasnarrativesthatpresenthowstatutoryobjectivesrelatetoinputs,activitiesandresults.
