Be Courageous, Pastor Jerry
Carmel Christian Church • 463 East Main Street, Carmel, IN 46032 • 317.846.5033
September 2019
We had a good turnout for our Vision Summit last Saturday. Our focus was to get to know each other better and explore how we can make our theme Believe -Belong – Become come into reality. The scriptures we chose as the foundation for our theme are “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 (NIV)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Overall we want to find ways to build intergenerational relationships within our community and how we can “promote and amplify” our openness and
inclusiveness to the Carmel community. We had several ideas on how to make an impact on our community from having a youth-interfaith-camp, finding out how we can be of help to Carmel Elementary School to having a Tiki Bar.
You can imagine who made the Tiki Bar suggestion. We have an opportunity to apply for a $5000 grant from the Indiana Region to strengthen our commu-nity and make an impact in our city. Mandy Wray, Jo Smith, Tana Meko, and Andrea Boutselis agreed to form a team to come up with a grant proposal
taking the ideas from our Summit. If you would like to join them in this project please let me or members of the team know.
I love both of these scriptures that our group chose, especially I like the words in the Jeremiah passage where the Lord says,” plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” I grew up with the minister pounding the pulpit telling us God would strike us down if we didn’t shape up. I grew up fearing God rather than knowledge of God’s love. I believe there will be bad things that happen to us, sometimes from our actions and sometimes from actions of others but I do not believe that God brings bad things on us. God is love, and love does not harm us but guides us to a future of peace and love.
May you know God’s guidance and love this week.

Adisa and her parents have been cleaning the church for over 15 years. They have had a lot of transitions in their lives with the death of Adisa’s husband. They have chosen to stop cleaning the church at the end of August. We are thankful for their dedicated care in taking of our church. If you would like to send them a note of appreciation please address and mail to :
Sada Jasarevic

Maria Garcia and her daughter Daniela have a cleaning company and will be taking over for Sada and Adisa. If you are at the church on Tues-day evenings you might see them here cleaning, please make them feel welcomed.
Staff Transition
God’s Word is a lamp unto our path! As you continue on your journey, rejoice, for there is a scent of blessings in the air. When God blesses you, He uses a person. I pray the people God “speaks” to move in obedience quickly to bring God's plan, purpose and goodness to come to pass in your life. Because the Lord is with you, you already are a successful person (see Gen 39:2). Believe this and see His favour on all you do. Enthusiasm is contagious. When you are excited about something, people are drawn to you. When you let your light shine brightly, it opens people up to you and to the God you serve. His love for you will never fail.
