Israel did not earn justification– Therefore, Israel tried to establish

their own righteousness– They failed because no one can do it

Perfect under the Law

God’s commands: Do and Live

Man’s attempts: Failure

Theoretically, it was possible for a man to live perfectly and earn his salvation, but it was not probable

Only Jesus obeyed the Law perfectly

of God to save them– Not based on man’s merit– Romans 10:6-7: The futility of

meriting salvation– Without God man has no hope of

salvation

So to call on Jesus, one must believe Him. In order to believe Him,

one must hear the word of God.

What is “Calling on the Name of the Lord?” To call for help or assistance More than just vocal appeal It demands that we respond to all

of God’s requirements in order to have the remission of sins

Baptism is part of that calling, Acts 22:16
