For retailers, mobile ads may generatemore revenue in stores than in onlinepurchases. Consulting firm Deloitteestimates that 28% of sales in physicalstores, or $970 billion, were influenced bymobile devices last year, up from 5% in2012. By comparison, all online sales lastyear totaled roughly $300 billion.
Consumers’ digital behavior and expectations,often shaped by their interactions withecommerce sites, are evolving quickly. Inresponse, most bricks & mortar retailers arebuilding ‘ecommerce centric’ experiences vsenhanced in-store experiences, creating adisconnect between what the consumerwants and the experiences they aredelivering. This gap we refer to as the‘new digital divide’
