World Leader in BiopolymersA pioneer in the development of PE made from sugar
cane ethanol, a 100% renewable raw material, Braskem
is the world’s largest producer of biopolymers with
an annual capacity of 200 KT. Green PE is a practical
and efficient solution for companies committed to
sustainable growth. Drawing on competitive
technology, Braskem’s Green PE:
• Is 100% recyclable;
• Facilitates processability;
• Offers greater application flexibility;
• Processes on the same equipment as petrochemical-
based PE;
• Combats the greenhouse effect and global warming
as it absorbs more CO2 from the atmosphere than
it emits throughout its production cycle – from the
cultivation of sugarcane to final PE resins;
• Helps capture and sequester 2.5 tons* of CO2 for each
ton produced.
Braskem is also the pioneer in the production of
Green PP, made from a 100% renewable raw material.
Green PP offers:
• A favorable carbon footprint, since it absorbs and
sequesters up to 2.3 tons* of CO2 per ton produced;
• Processes effectively on traditional conversion
equipment.
The company has announced a project to construct a
manufacturing plant that will produce 30 KT of Green
Propylene per year, which will be used to produce
Green PP. The plant is scheduled to start-up in the
second half of 2013.

Polypropylene – A High-performance,Sustainable ChoicePolypropylene offers numerous benefits throughout the
value chain, from converter to end-user – performance,
cost-effectiveness and sustainability. Take a look at what
makes PP an all-around performer:
• As a polyolefin, it’s recyclable;
• Reduced wall-thickness capabilities enable production
of more finished goods using less raw material;
• Among the lightest thermoplastics, PP offers light-weighting
opportunities that mean lower transport costs and reduced
emissions;
• Fast processing characteristics translate into sustainability
advantages and production efficiencies for converters –
reduced CO2 emissions, energy, time and waste;
• Even with high melt flow rates, impact strength and rigidity
aren’t sacrificed;
• Exceptional transparency, design flexibility, organoleptics
and low-temperature impact resistance address today’s
food packaging trends;
• Only thermoplastic capable of unique living hinge design,
a growing consumer product requirement.
Reliable, Responsive Service and SupplyWe focus on being responsive to our North American customer
needs with service levels and supply security unmatched by the
competition. At the heart of this responsiveness is geographic
diversity that provides reliable sourcing, with production
facilities in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Texas.
