Dear Friends of MexicojGreetings from the so called "Land of Mahana" of late our
letters to you seem to prove that we truly live in such a land. D#fo!7give us and pray with us that ethers will ccme and help tell the
people of this 'Manana Land* about the Christof Yesterday, Today and Forever.
I would like to tell you ab^ut a yeungman who has spent much of his life telling aboutthis wonderful Christ. He is JESOS AMAYA, firstb«rn to Juan and Chalita Amaya on Dec. 6, 19^6,in the village of La Mesa de Seris, where hestill lives and preaches. Jesus* mother tellsthe story: "I was very sick before my S9n wasborn, the Doctor said it was a miracle I did notlose him, even asked if I was very religious andhad I been praying to the saints that my childbe spared. I told him "no", but I did not tellhim of my promise to G«d.— I was taught by myfather that there was a God, he had a een, Jesus, whose mother was Mary. Even tho I didn't knowhew, I prayed: 'Gnd, if you will let my baby live,I will promise you if it is a boy, he will becalled Jesus, in honor of your Son, if it is agirl, she will be named Mary, in honor of Hiemother, and I also promise you that it will
aerva yau all its life. But if you want my baby, then you take it,*That was my prayer, eve.a tho I didn't know how to pray."
-She had a son, Jesils., and was very careful to teach himgood morals. When he was about 10 years '•Id, as she was about readyto offer him to the Catholic Priest for an altar boy, young men fromMexican Bible Seminary began holding services in the village. Mamawas invited to^the services, liked whftt she heard and was soanbaptized. Jesus became a Christian when he was 12, and se»n Heganhelping with the services in the village.
Jesug attended Mexican Bible Seminary, then married a ahorttime later. His wife beaame a Christian after about six months. Theynow have three little girls wh* do their 'evangelizing* by invitingtheir playmates to Sunday School.
Pray for Jeaus - he has a Thursday night service made up afabfut 20 y#ung men. They are studying a mimeographed work-book on"Christian Doetrines". Several have asked about baptism. Regulars#rvi«es attract about 50 persons in a village of no more than 300.Sunday School runs about 60.
Jesus works at a paying job to care for his family - sptndsa good part of what he makes an the church and parsonage. V/e w^uldlike to see him give full time to preaching, not only in his ownvillage but in several villages where he has been asked: "come tellus about Chrisrb". Twenty five dollars a week would enable him to dothis.
Thank you for your prayers and gifts. Remember to sendgifte tt Deane Brown, Forwarding Agent
