The Beatitudes: Old and New Testament

O In the Old Testament (or Hebrew Scriptures), God gave a framework to people through Moses

OThe Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). This is a statement of what not to do.

OThe Beatitudes, a part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount further develops the picture of how humans should interact with each other and with God (Matthew 5:1-12). This is a statement of what to do and outline the path to true happiness.
