- Engineer uses social tool to log request for assistance from any engineer experienced in, or has knowledge of this part, - posts a photo. Reply received suggests that a substitution of an alternative part is possible. Engineer completes task and logs completion in standard ‘eform’ for IT back office application.- Analysis of ‘Big Data’ produced by collaborations between Engineers using Social tool shows several requests concerning this problem and identifies that service manual parts list on Back Office IT Applications database needs updating. - The ‘Big Data’ analysis is carried out using external compute power and tools and resulting insights ‘kick off’ several further Tasks in the ‘Big Process’. This includes noting the increased time taken to service Mark III units, as well as specific issues at a particular site, etc. - The time taken to service Mark III units kicks off a check on the training and procedure to service, including possible product modification.- Immediate verification of the real time required is fed to the rules engine planning Service Engineers work schedules as an automatic update.- Sales receive advice into the CRM system as to an opportunity at the specific client due to problems being caused by not enough units installed. This kicks of both a data based update and a collaboration request to link the engineer to the sales person for a briefing.

Apple Mac Downloads – Dec 12th 2011 “In just three years the App Store changed how people get mobile apps, and now the Mac App Store is changing the traditional PC software industry,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “With more than 100 million downloads in less than a year, the Mac App Store is the largest and fastest growing PC software store in the world.”

UPDATE for Q4 2013 -Apple's iPad accounts for one out of every six PCs sold in the market today, according to research firm Canalys.The company said that over the fourth quarter, Apple's tablet lead the way in sales and, when combined with the Macintosh line, made the company the top vendor in the PC market ahead of HP.
Canalys reported that on the quarter Apple pulled a 20 per cent share of the market, while HP weighed in at an 11.7 per cent share.
Tablets in general sold well, with shipments up 75 per cent over the previous quarter. The company estimates that one third of all PCs sold on the quarter were in fact tablet devices.
