Many Americans celebrate Halloween on October 31. Celebrations include costume parties, trick-or –treating, visiting haunted houses and carving pumpkins.

Thanksgiving Day is the fourth Thursday in November. Americans get together to celebrate with family and friends. The first Thanksgiving was in 1621. It was a celebration with the pilgrims and Indians to celebrate their harvest. To this day, Thanksgiving dinner includes some of the foods served at the first feast: Turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes, and pumpkin pie.

Christmas is celebrated on December 25. The day celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Many people put up Christmas trees, decorate their homes, visit family and friends and exchange gifts.

Easter is a religious holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many children paint eggs, go on Easter egg hunts, and receive Easter baskets full of sweets.

Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th. It honors the birthday of the United States of America and celebrates the Independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776. It's a day of parades, concerts and fireworks.
