Alliteration

In Poetry…

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet

When far away an interrupted cryCame over houses from another

street

Acquainted With the Night, Robert Frost

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,

Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,

As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.

"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-

Only this, and nothing more."

The Raven, Edgar Allen Poe

In Writing…

"I'll kill him though," he said. "In all his greatness and his glory."

Old Man and the Sea, Ernest Hemingway

Harry Potter's appearance did not endear him to the neighbors, who were the sort of people

who thought scruffiness ought to be punishable by law, but as he had hidden

himself behind a large hydrangea bush this evening he was quite invisible to passers-by.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, J. K. Rowling

Great Example of Alliteration…Tongue Twisters!

Betty Botter bought some butter, but she said "this butter's bitter!

But a bit of better butter will make my butter better" So she bought some better butter,

better than the bitter butter, and it made her butter better so 'twas

better Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter!

If one doctor doctors another doctor does the doctor who

doctors the doctor doctor the doctor the way the doctor he is doctoring doctors? Or does the

doctor doctor the way the doctor who doctors doctors?
