Our Goals for today:To review Jane Schaffer paragraphs

To begin with the ceremony of 12 is odd because everyone has the same birthday. For example, kids get their jobs when they are 12 years old. This shows that it is strange because 12 year old children in the real world are to immature to have responsibilities. For these reasons I think the aging ceremony is weird.

To begin with, the family units in the Giver are very strange. For example, men and women cannot have kids like they do in our world. In the Giver, children are born and raised by nurturers until they are one year old and then they are given to a family. Because parents do not have their children naturally in the Giver, I think it would be hard to develop a loving relationship between them. As a result, love between children and parents in the Giver is more artificial or fake compared to parents in our world who feel a more genuine or real love towards the children they have naturally.
