Subject-Based Banding

• Beyond the start of Sec 1, students who do well in school-based examinations may be considered for higher-level subjects if found suitable to do so by our school.

• Eligible N(A) students will receive an application form together with the Sec overall (year-end) results, based on the following criteria:– 75% or higher in the subject; – 60% or higher in the overall average; and – Positive learning attitude to cope with the higher

academic demand• Our school will provide support through bridging

programmes for these new SBB students.

Lateral Transfer to Express

• Students in Sec 1 or 2 N(A) can be promoted to Sec 2 or 3 Express respectively if they have performed very well in the assessments and are strongly recommended by teachers

• Overall score > 70%

• English, Mathematics and Science > 70%

Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP)• One-year programme that offers a practice-oriented

curriculum taught by polytechnic lecturers to prepare N(A) students for entry into the relevant Polytechnic Diploma courses

• PFP students are given provisional places in diploma programmes, subject to them passing all modules in the one-year PFP.

• About 1,500 places set aside each year by all five Polytechnics, spanning more than 80% of diploma course offerings

• Eligibility does not guarantee placement in a PFP course. Placement is subject to the availability of vacancies and in open competition with other eligible applicants based on merit.

• Prepares Sec 4N(A) students for progression into selected polytechnic diploma courses via a 2-year Higher Nitec programme at ITE, and a 10-week DPP preparatory course

• About 1,200 places offered across 18 Higher Nitec courses
