Jeremy Anderson is an illustrator, cartoonist, educator, and human living in Minneapolis, MN.

He draws influences from Retro-Futurism, Pulp Art, Minimalism, comics, interactions and observances and many other random

things along the way.

Kyle And is an illustrator/artist whose work spans editorial illustration to poster and cover art.

His Senior Project consists of a series of large-format portraits that relate abstract patterns and underlying imagery to emotionally

driven content. He takes inspiration from films, books, music, other artists and the experiences of his generation.

Jennifer is originally from Southern California but has found herself falling in love with actual seasons while attending Minneapolis

College of Art and Design for a BFA in Illustration. She loves hand lettering, doodling, making lists, patterns, painting, and books (or

any combination of those things!). Also, coffee. Lots of coffee.

Josh Brink is an illustrator whose work contains unusual juxtapositions of characters, objects and space that yield metaphors which

describe and translate chaos. His body of work pulls influences from masculinity, automotive, punk rock and the surreal. His senior

project is an entrance into the inferno of a twisted world.

Patrick Burke is a fine art illustrator that investigates mental health and environmental issues through the use of highly detailed,

surreal portraiture. His medium of choice is graphite and ink but, he has shown masterful utilization of other mediums in his award

winning illustrations. Patrick has received several accolades throughout his career at MCAD and has been featured in numerous

galleries in Minneapolis.

Mia Calderone is a Minneapolis based illustrator. She has studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and at the Bauhaus

University in Weimar, Germany. She is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English, and has an intermediate knowledge of German.

Some of her clients include 3M, Film Director Shridhar Reddy and Black Lantern Publishing.

Crystal likes making art and walking around in the sun and lying in the grass and listening to birds sing. She also likes animals of all

sorts and reading facts about them. Sushi, strawberries, and organic soup is also something she enjoys munching on.

Crystal’s illustration received national recognition by the Society of Illustrators of of Los Angeles in 2014.

Hannah works in india inks, digital media, acrylic ink, and sometimes cut paper, acrylic paint, or screen-printing. She loves research

based work and is interested in the design aesthetics of other eras, particularly art deco. She also enjoys drawing inspiration from

the Art Nouveau, early through mid 20th century propaganda, and the aesthetics of the 1950s and the 1980s.

The most prominent feature in Alex Doty’s work is an element of play or whimsy. She tends to unconsciously focus on images that

have a kind of childish charm. Written word also accompanies her visual imagery, both implicitly and explicitly.

She likes fancy coffee and cats on the internet and alliteration.

Emily’s work is frequently described as “melty” due to the way she render objects. She has a tendency to illustrate dark subject

matter using bright and poppy colors with intentions of drawing the viewer in and causing them to take a closer look. Emily enjoys

the little things, making funny faces, going to punk rock shows and cruising around in her car, Ruthie.

Ariel is an illustrator and designer based in Minneapolis. Born and raised in the Midwest, she has an appreciation for all things

nature. She enjoys using detailed lines and dynamic compositions to tell her stories. When she’s not drawing, she’s most likely

eating pizza.

Ariel’s illustration received national recognition from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles in 2014.

Theresa Ganzer was born and raised in Minnesota. In the few warmer months Minnesota has to offer, she can be found high on top

of her favorite hill, observing her town, staring into the lake, or creating impermanent installations with the nearby broken twigs

and flowers. Her art reflects a combination of her memories and dreams with a whimsical twist.

Star Wars and it’s Lore have had a huge influence on LIndsay Hall’s work and have inspired numerous pieces. The urge to

produce something people haven’t seen before is important to LIndsay. She would like to create cover art for novels or picture

books, encouraging children and adults to read.

Jake Herrick is an American Illustrator and Designer currently based in Minneapolis Minnesota. His work invites the viewer to

themes and topics.

Yinfan Huang is an illustrator, designer originally from Canton (Guangzhou), China and currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Her name means yellow singing sailboat in Chinese. Her art is inspired by quirky animals, nature and her observations of both

Eastern and Western cultures...especially food culture!

Her clients include 3M where you can find her design collection of Post-it Signature Series.

Sarah Huisken a 100% free-range, all-organic Twin Cities Illustrator. She is drawn to a variety of topics, including nature, history,

and things that go bump in the night. The result is a collection of kooky characters and creepy concoctions. Whether it is rendered

in ink, formed from clay, or char-broiled on the grill, please help yourself to a hearty serving of the good old ‘Sota spirit.

Wisconsin transplant, Eddie Perrote is an Illustrator and Designer working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Energy and enjoyment

abound in a vibrantly acidic world of infinite party. His visual landscape is embodied in a devotion to abstraction, form, pattern, and

color stemming from a love of printmaking, drawing, and bright colors.

Eddie’s illustrations have been recognized nationally by The Society of illustrators of Los Angeles and The Society of Illustrators of

New York. His clients include 3M where you can find his design collection of signature tapes.

Michelle Peterson is also known as Shino-X. Before MCAD, she spent two years at the University of Wisconsin Stout studying Fine

Art with an emphasis on painting. The result of these combined backgrounds is her ability to work well with both traditional and

digital mediums from oil paint to Photoshop.

Amanda has a great love of feathered creatures, especially the sea-dwelling variety (seagulls, pelicans, arctic terns, oh my!)

Character design and storyboarding will always be some of her favorite forms of art-creatin’, though she does dabble in product

surface design, as well as editorial illustration.

Amanda Ritchie’s work has been nationally recognized by the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles in 2013 and 2014.

Sherri Taray’s illlustrations takes inspiration from retro illustration styles and color as well as the character designs found in children’s

animation. She describes her work as being playful, whimsical, and fondly nostalgic. She creates with acrylics, inks, and gouache to

bring more of a hand-done quality into her art.

Maisey Thies is a midwestern illustrator who can often be found under a pile of blankets fending off the blustery winters. While

she illustrates, her Siamese cat, Ferdinand, likes to keep her company and will always stay up late to make sure she finishes

whatever she’s working on.

she’s working on her illustration.

in life holds beauty. Her Senior Project is a home decor collection inspired by botanical forms and handmade geometric patterns.

strangers, personal experiences and dreams. Leah is interested in the complexities and uniqueness within people and

environments; reinventing these ideas into whole new worlds.

SPRING / 2014

Description: The student in consultation with a faculty member produces a series of illustrations to

strengthen and enhance their portfolio. This capstone project can take the form of a research project,

an in-depth illustration problem, or the advancement of a particular strength, or style. Students are

required to develop an appropriate proposal, timeline, and goals for their project. The resulting

illustrations should address a specific audience and/or market.
