Our Classes• English (All of Us) = 3 lessons• Writing = 1 lesson• Reading Comprehension = 1 lesson• Art = 2 lessons• Health = 1 lesson• Physical Education = 1 lesson• Integrative English = 1 lesson

EnglishGoal: To systematically cover all basic

vocabulary, grammar, and functional language so that students acquire English naturally in the context of their daily lives.

• Basic Thematic Vocabulary• Grammar• Sentence Patterns• Weekly Information Sheets• Speaking confidently

English continued• Split of classes – some students

need more repetition of the language to acquire it.

• Same work covered• Same homework given on most

days• Same exam written

WritingGoal : To help students develop into confident

writers by using a step-by-step

approach.

• Basics of writing a sentence• Structure and content of

paragraphs• Different formats of writing• Exercise book for homework

assignments

Reading Comprehension

Goal : to help students develop skills to understand what

they are reading

• Interesting texts, both fiction and nonfiction

• Vocabulary enrichment, within context• How language is used to convey

thoughts• Practice critical thinking

ArtGoal : most of the projects are aimed at

developing fine motor skills, problem solving and creativity

• Fun, artistic activities• American/Taiwanese holiday

themes e.g. Christmas, Halloween, Chinese New Year

HealthGoal : to introduce positive association and

learning experiences that will help develop in children good lifelong habits, e.g.

• Care for the Body• An Active Lifestyle / Eating Well• Pollution and Health• Caring for your teeth and gums

Other Activities• Face-to-Face (once a week)

– Review English – Basic Conversation– Reading

• English Day (Wednesdays)• Students must speak English all

day– Please remind/encourage them!

– Monday-Thursday = 3 x new words, students create new sentences

– Friday = Spelling Quiz

At Home• Homework/Review

– Help your child complete any homework/review activities

• English Stories– Encourage them to read English

stories • Speaking

– Speak English at home as much as possible

• Videos/Websites/TV Shows– Encourage them to watch/visit English

Communication Book• It is used to communicate between

English teacher and parents• English homework• DWS (Monday-Thursday)• Diary - Friday• Please read and sign the English

Listening• Listening component added to

each test in grade 5• To improve students’ listening

skills• Will form part of students’ grade• First semester – only practice• Second semester – 10% of grade
