2013 ACEP NATIONAL JUNIOR FACULTY TEACHING

AWARD RECIPIENTS

Pratik Doshi, MD Faculty and residents agree that he

is our “genius in residence” who mentors everyone about how to

best care for our sickest patients. As a result, our residents often ask aloud, “What would Doshi

do?” when faced with a challenging critically ill patient.

Pratik has the ability to take very complex concepts, distill them

down to their essential elements, and impart this information such

that his learners understand, retain, and effectively utilize this

information when caring for patients.

Meghan Herbst, MDMeghan's capacity as an educator

influences our entire program. When Meghan works clinically her joy of caring for patients and the teaching of EM with

our without US transforms the environment around her. Other

faculty are constantly challenged to provide better care of patients and the best

teaching to residents and students. Meghan is an exemplar whose sets a standard of teaching

excellence for all to emulate.

Jonathan S. Jones, MDDr. Jones has been an outstanding teacher for our residents on many

levels. In the classroom, his didactics are clear,

informative and stimulating. They also are in a format that facilitates

discussion and critical thinking among the residents….Dr. Jones excels at this broad-

reaching approach and has really transformed our

residency program.

Christopher M. McDowell, MD, Med, FACEP

The impact Dr. McDowell has made on our program and our hospital system in such a short time has been remarkable. I have

never seen a junior faculty be so impactful…It was obvious from the start that education was

not just a job for Dr. McDowell, but a true

calling.

Joel M. Schofer, MD, RDMS, FACEP

LCDR Schofer has established himself as

a nationally recognized expert in

emergency ultrasound and Emergency

Medicine education. He has a proven

record of academic production and

leadership.

Susanne Spano, MD, FACEP

She is enthusiastic, innovative,

hardworking, and engaging in her

approach to medical education…although she is an experienced lecturer, her true area

of excellence lies in developing interactive

curricula.

Robert J. Tubbs, MD

Bob is one of the finest educators I have

known in my 25 years in academic

emergency medicine and his excellence and

innovation in emergency medicine education makes him a great candidate for

this award.
