Thissummer’smetaphysicalthemeis“Everystepofprogressisastepmorespiritual.”(People’sIdeaofGod)Forme,itspeakstowhatmeaningfulcamp
activitiesareallabout.Campisacherishedplacetoexperienceprogressinsomanyareasofourlife,providinganenvironmentrichwithopportunitiesforgrowth.
Duringcampsessions,weseeprogressinsomanyways–whenaCorralCamperlearnstocanter,aMountaineerpeakshisfirst14er,aRaftercallsherfirstrapidoraChallengercatchesthe“LeapofFaith”barforthefirsttime.Eachoftheseexperiencesisalandmarkinacamper’sexperience–animportantstepintheirdevelopment.
Whiletheseexperiencesaretheevidenceofnewtechniquesandskillsmastered,theunderlyingtriumphisspiritualgrowth-thetruefocusofcamp.ActivitiesatcampturnustoGodinwaysthatchallengeustofeelacloserconnectiontoHimandtogainaclearerunderstandingofthetruesourceofourstrength,graceandendurance.
WhentimeatcampisfocusedonidentifyingnewwaystoapplyourunderstandingofChristianScience,suchprogressextendsintoeveryaspectofourlives–atcampandathome.When“astepmorespiritual”isouraim,thestepsofprogresscan’thelpbutfollow.

Camp News 2012: What's New?
Round-Up Ranch Skills Camp (1st Session)HighSchoolStudents-areyouinterestedingoingtothenextlevelinyourskillsdevelopmentandexperiencesatcamp?Thissummerwe’llbeofferingSkillsCampinthemajorsyouhavecometoloveincluding-Horsemanship,CattleWorking,RaftingandMosaics.Theschedulehasbeenenhancedtoallowcampersmoretimetodevelopandhonetheirskillsthantraditionalcampsessionsoffer.
Leaders-In-Training (LIT)EverycamperatRound-Upnowhastheopportunitytotakeadvantageofthis“value-add”optionnomatterwhatmajoryouselect.Thosewhochoosetoenrollwhentheyarriveatcampwillgainabetterunderstandingoftheimportanceofservantleadershipandparticipateinprogramsupportactivities.
WecontinuallyhearfromthoseapplyingtobeaCounselor-in-Training(CIT)theirdesiretogive,thesamewaythestaffgave tothemwhentheywerecampers.Thisyear’smetaphysicaltheme,“Everystepofprogressisastepmorespiritual”isanexcellentgatewayforthosetransitioningintotheirfirstyearas astaffmember.
CITsarenotjustgainingappropriatetechnicalknowledgeintheirprogramareasthroughtraining,shadowingandleadingactivities,theyarealsoprogressingspirituallyeverystepoftheway.Itisanincredibleexperience,afirstjobformanyofthe17-18yearolds,wheretheresponsibilitiesaskedofthemincludespiritualgiving.
Aspartofthecounselorteam,CITsliveinthebunkhouseswithyouthcampers,supportingtheircabinbylovinglycaringforeachcamper,leadinglessonstudyandprayingwithcampers.TheycontinuallyengageindiscussionsaboutChristianScience,askquestionsaboutspiritualreflectionandpushboththemselvesandtheircamperstotakestepsmorespiritual.
OneofthemostlegendarytasksperformedbyCITsiscyclingdishesthroughthedishwasherandwashingpotsandpansinthedishroom(canyousaywaterfight)!Theyarealsoresponsibleforkeepingthelodgesorganizedandclean,sweepingandmoppingandsettingupformeals.CITs’workisselflessand
hugelybeneficial,coupledwithmemoriesoffunandfriendshipsthatlastalifetime!
BeingaCITatA/Uisnotonlya“stepofprogress”butdefinitely“astepmorespiritual,”aseachCITtakesonmanyrewardingresponsibilities,supportingthecommunitytheylove.
