Program Overviews
Facilitate energy efficient design and construction through incentives and design assistance – California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP) – single family – California Multi-Family New Homes (CMFNH) – multi-family Programs target two CPUC goals: – By 2015: 90% of new homes at least 20% better than 2008 code – By 2020: 100% of new homes to reach Zero Net Energy (ZNE) Program is funded under the auspices of the CPUC – Programs may revise incentive levels and requirements during
the program cycle

2014 Programs Enrollment Process
18
Program Process
Overall process remains similar 1. Applicant submits enrollment package 2. TRC conducts plan review 3. TRC enrolls project after PG&E approval 4. Applicant remains in contact with TRC until project completion 5. HERS Rater conducts field verification (for code and program) 6. Applicant submits completion documentation 7. TRC reviews documentation and issues incentive payment after
PG&E approval
19
Free Design Assistance
CAHP and CMFNH can coordinate with your project team to: – Optimize energy savings and incentives – Maximize home/building performance – Exceed Title 24 standards – Reach high-incentive bonus CAHP points How to request design assistance: – Engage early – Invite CMFNH or CAHP staff to a project meeting (or charrette) – Receive ongoing design assistance during plan review
20
Primary Eligibility Requirements
Permitting under 2013 Title 24 standards – Permit applications submitted on or after July 1, 2014 PG&E Service Territory – Projects that receive only one commodity from PG&E (i.e.
electricity only) can receive partial incentives
New Construction, drywall not yet installed – CMFNH: Three or more units, townhomes with shared walls – CAHP: Single homes, duplexes, townhomes without shared walls
Meets minimum program compliance and all requirements as stated in the program handbooks
21
CMFNH – Enrollment Process
Complete enrollment package as soon as possible, no later than November 15, 2014: – 2014 Application – PDF plan set – Energy model (approved 2013 software) and output – W9s from developer and energy consultant – PG&E Proof of Service (i.e., will serve letter, application receipt)

CAHP– Enrollment Process
Steps to get started and best practices:
1. Download application, handbook, and checklist from the TRC CAHP website at www.cahp-pge.com.
2. Submit entire application package (see checklist) as soon as possible to allow time for review.
3. Clearly label all documents. 4. Use highlighter or circle the exact model and efficiency of planned
installations on all specification sheets. 5. Maintain communication with your project team.
Remember – we are happy to help! Feel free to contact us with your questions.

2013 Program CAHP Rollover Process
27
CAHP Permit-to-Program Rules
CAHP cycles run in parallel with the Energy Code The building permit you pull must correspond to the appropriate CAHP cycle in order to be eligible for incentives.

Percent Above Code based program cycles
All CAHP lots enrolled on or before
June 30, 2014
2013 Energy Code
(Effective July 1, 2014)
CAHP Score based program cycles

after July 1, 2014
28
2014 Project Rollover Procedures
An application shortcut for current CAHP projects with lots that will be permitted under 2013 Code
CAHP will pre-fill
with your
information.
29
2014 Project Rollover Process
1. Completed Rollover Application with lot list
2. 2013 Code energy model and output files
3. 2013 Code HERS Registry sharing
4. Updated architectural plans and/or spec sheets* (*only if project changes after review, or for older projects that TRC has not reviewed)
We can start this process now!
Contact us at cahp@trcsolutions.com if you already know of a project to rollover into the 2014 Program.
