Principal’s Reflection
Dear Families,
Welcome back after the short break, which I hope was a relaxing one. Term 4 is already
shaping up to be full and festive as you can see from the term events calendar attached to
this week’s newsletter.
We congratulate Miriam Antenor for the excellent result she achieved at the
Northern Territory Education and Care Awards during the holidays. Miriam,
who works at our Community of Learners, and was the runner up in the
“Emerging Education” category . This is a fantastic result as staff throughout
the whole Northern Territory were nominated for the awards. We are all very
proud of Miriam’s achievements.
The study tour undertaken to Barcelona by myself, Paula Sellars and leadership staff from
across our catholic school in the NT was a great success and a fantastic experience. We
were able to work closely with both staff and students from a number of catholic schools to
gain a deeper understanding of their educational philosophies and pedagogical practices.
Paula and I will be working with staff and students to implement a number of these find-
ings here at Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit was a very busy place with many things happening over the break. Congratulations to Bronwyn
Tranter, Cherry Valenzuela and the team for an action packed Vacation Care Programme.
Students are eagerly preparing for our Holy Spirit Mission Market Day, to be held on Friday, October 27th from
11am – 12.30pm. This is a fundraiser as part of World Mission Month and an excellent way for students to reach
out to others in need. All money raised will go directly to Catholic Missions, who work with children in over 160
countries worldwide. Each class is responsible for running their chosen stall and students can pay a small fee to
participate in each of the activities. For a gold coin donation, they may also dress in casual clothes for the day.
Please refer to page ?? for more information.
Our 2018 Transition Parents Information Evening will be held next week on Wednesday 18th October at 5.30pm
in our school library. This evening is for parents of children who are looking to enrol or have already enrolled
their child to be in Transition in 2018.
God bless you all and keep you safe,
Mr. Simon Duffy
Principal

Week 1, Term 4
Reflection “ Now it happened that he was in
a certain place praying, and
when he had finished, one of his
disciples said, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his
disciples.' He said to them, 'When
you pray, this is what to say: ‘Father, may your name be held
holy, your kingdom come;
give us each day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive each one
who is in debt to us. And do not put us to the test.'”

It is important for children to learn these necessary skills and to familiarise themselves with what to do in case of an emergency. Our swimming programme is a component of Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School Physical Education Programme, therefore a requirement that all students participate. We appreciate your support with this important programme in place for our students. Please do not hesitate in speaking with me should you require further information.
