List of the Experiments

1. Experiment on TST switch

SPC

Control Signaling Message

2. Experiment on analysis of Telecommunication traffic

3. Simulation of a wireless channel model

Channel refers to the path between Transmitter and Receiver whether it may be wired or wireless.

Channel model refers to the mathematical equation describing the channel behavior between the Transmitter and Receiver.

TWO main types of channels 34 time invariant channel 35 time varying channel

Channel models e.g. Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), Rayleigh and Rician, etc. are used by communication design engineer for the purpose validating transmitter and receiver design.

6. Experiment on AT commands

"AT" meaning 'attention'

Commands for communication between Modems

Command set has four groups

1. Basic Command Set 2. Extended Command Set 3. Proprietary Command Set

- Vary widely among modem

Manufacturers

4. Register Commands

7. Simulation of Speech Coding and Decoding

Speech coding uses speech-specific parameter estimation using audio signal processing techniques to model the speech signal, combined with generic data compression algorithms to represent the resulting modeled parameters in a compact bit stream.

8. Experiment on GMSK modulation

Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying is a continuous-phase Frequency Shift Keying modulation scheme.

It is similar to standard Minimum Shift Keying (MSK); however the digital data stream is first shaped with a Gaussian filter before being applied to a frequency modulator. This has the advantage of reducing sideband power, which in turn reduces out-of-band interference between signal carriers in adjacent frequency channels.

GMSK increases the modulation memory in the system and causes Inter Symbol Interference.

GMSK has high spectral efficiency, but it needs a higher power level than QPSK, in order to reliably transmit the same amount of data.

9. Experiment on Spreading Sequences

The spread spectrum systems were originally built for the military.

The aim of spread Spectrum systems was to hide the fact that digital transmission was taking place, toMake the transmission difficult to intercept and to make it robust against intentional jamming.

- m-sequences

- Gold and Kasami sequences

- Walsh sequences

10. Experiment on CDMA

11. Experiment on 3G Mobile

Third generation of mobile telecommunications technology based on a set of standards used for mobile devices and mobile telecommunication services and networks that comply with the International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000) specifications by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)

12. Experiment on VOIP implementation

VOIP

A methodology for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks

13. Visit to Mobile Telephone Switching Office (MTSO)

MTSO Contains the switching equipment for routing mobile phone calls by controlling the cell sites that are connected to the MSC

Switching equipment is called Mobile Switching Center (MSC)
