What is the motor vehicle theft?Motor vehicle theft is a crime which involves the theft or attempted theft of a motor vehicle. In the FBIs UCR Program, a motor vehicle is defined as a self-propelled vehicle that runs on land surfaces and not on rails. For instance, automobiles, sport utility vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV) and buses. Motor vehicle theft excludes some equipment such as bulldozers, farm equipment, water craft, construction equipment and air planes.
