By Paul Hellickson

Thanksgiving has come and gone, with Christmas and the New Year right round the corner. This time of year always causes me to reflect on the many blessings I have in my life. I am thankful for so many things.. Work.. Friends…Family…and of course ASPE. I hope that each of you have had some time to relax, spend time with loved ones and eat plenty of good food.

2016 ASPE CONVENTION

Your board and I were fortunate to be able to spend some time in Phoenix Arizona recently at the ASPE Convention. We met for many hours discussing the different by-laws, voting in new Board Members, attending the various technical sessions and of course walking the product floor at the Expo. I hope that in the future more of our members will be able to attend and of course our hope is that we will be able to do more sponsorships.

GET THOSE PASSPORTS READY

In 2017 we will have our Technical Symposium which will be held in Montreal Quebec Canada and promises to be another exceptional event. More information to come.

VP Technical Report By John Fischer Jr.

During the past month it was my pleasure to meet with the Civil Engineering Senior Design class at St. Louis University. About 12 to 15 class members were in attendance and the sub-ject matter and intent was to inform them of the great opportunities that were available in Plumbing Design in the field of Engineering. These bright and intelligent students are our fu-ture associates if we provide them opportunities to learn and become our Plumbing designers of the future. If anyone is interested in hiring summer help in our field I would be happy to as-sist you, so please contact me in this regard.

This month we will have the presentation provided by Steve Doolittle from Zoeller Pump Com-pany who will make a presentation on Submersible Pump Guidelines plus Comments regard-ing current and anticipated rulings regarding DOE requirements for energy efficiency.

Last month the presentation by Ted Anthony of Reliance Worldwide Corporation (CashAcme) on alternate connection methods, Push–to–Connect Fitting was found to be most interesting and informative.

Continuing Education Certificates will again be available for those who did not receive them for previous meetings and also if the equipment continues to perform correctly, for the current meeting. Please remember to pick up your Continuing Education Certificates

I am still very much receptive to receiving suggestions on topics and presenters for future meetings, as this topic was a suggestion from one of our members.

Hope to see you December 6th for our next meeting.

St. Louis County Plumbing Code Review The next St. Louis County Plumbing Code Review Committee meeting was November 30th, in the 8th Floor Training Room, 41 S. Central Ave., St. Louis, MO 63105. The 6th Floor Training Room is located in the southwest corner of the building immediately adjacent to both the elevator lobby and the re-strooms. The previous meeting reviewed St. Louis County Ordinance final draft. These meetings are open to the public and are very interesting to go to and listen or discuss the codes we deal with every day. I highly suggest attending if you have time in your schedules. EPA Releases new guide on developing effective stormwater plans

On October 27, 2016, EPA announced a draft guide, toolkit, and technical assistance to promote compre-hensive, community-wide planning approaches to manage stormwater. EPA considers this guide a draft that will be supplemented with an integrated online tool to assist communities in implementing the plan-ning process, piloted through community-based technical assistance efforts, and updated over time with feedback from users.
