By CHERYLENE CHAN   save article share

Munch your way through 'Murica's most iconic eats at these restaurants around the

island

Besides giving us Netix (http://thehoneycombers.com/singapore/netix-in-singapore-

beers (http://thehoneycombers.com/singapore/craft-beers-in-singapore-bars-and-shops-

satisfying food scattered through its 50 states, from Maryland’s crab cakes to

Philadelphia’s cheesesteak sandwiches. Thankfully, with the ever-growing pool of

American restaurants in Singapore, we have plenty of places to chow down on burgers,

Overeasy

Loved equally for its kitschy vibe and dressed-up yet unpretentious grub, this all-

American restaurant now has two spots to visit: the waterfront One Fullerton outlet with

killer views of Marina Bay’s skyline, and a spankin’ new Orchard Road outpost that’s great

for people-watching. Star dishes on the menu include the true burger (with a wagyu

beef mince patty, true-infused mayonnaise, three dierent cheeses, sauteed onions

and mushrooms in a grilled brioche bun), the Mac and Cheeks – crammed with

beautifully braised beef cheeks, and the bourbon donut holes with homemade fudge. To

wash down all that hearty grub, we suggest ordering their alcohol-spiked milkshakes and

slushies.

Overeasy (http://www.overeasy.com.sg/), #01-06, One Fullerton,1 Fullerton Road, Singapore

Manhattan Bar

Manhattan

Evoking the swanky watering holes of New York City’s Great Gatsby era, Manhattan is the

rst bar in the world with an in-hotel rickhouse, which is used to age bitters and single-

cask cocktails, as well as store exquisite spirits. A special ingredients room also houses

heaps of intriguing avour enhancers, such as smoked sea salt and wild cherry bark.

While most ock to the bar for their NYC-inspired cocktail menu (designed to represent

the iconic ‘hoods), their modern bites are also worth a shout – think street-style hot dogs

Meatsmith

MeatSmith

This lively modern smokehouse specialises in thrillingly tender, juicy meats prepared on

site using smokers specially own in from the States. Their beef brisket ($25) hits the spot

whole) is battered to perfection. If you’re going in a group, load up on comforting sides

If you’re no stranger to The Big Apple, then you’re probably well-acquainted

with NYC burger institution, Burger Joint. The new Singaporean outlet, hidden away in

Gemmill Lane, brings to mind retro diners and unpretentious American fare. This

simplicity works in its favour; by eschewing exotic sauces and even salt and pepper,

you’re left with a burger that easily shows o the quality of its ingredients. The proof is in

the rst bite of your burger – from the crisp, fresh lettuce and onions to the generous

portions of melty cheese and, of course, the all-beef patties (served at your choice of

doneness; we recommend the medium).
