Thesis: The Mundane-Natal Horoscope Connection Mundane astrology works because planetary configurations in

mundane charts sympathetically trigger actions by individuals with similar natal configurations. These individuals are ‘lifted up’ from

the masses to play out events promised by mundane horoscopes.

In my second book, America is Born: Introducing the Regulus USA National Horoscope, I

introduced the above-stated thesis as a solution to what I have observed as a problem in mundane astrology predictions. Simply stated, there appears a divide between traditional astrologers relying exclusively on Ingress charts and modern astrologers relying on natal charts of candidates and national horoscopes as tools to predict the results of political elections. Traditional astrologers are correct in the overriding importance of mundane horoscopes in the predictive hierarchy of world affairs. However, failure to link planetary configurations found in mundane horoscopes to specific individuals or nations has, in my opinion, led to some spectacular failures in astrological prediction. A similar problem is observed among modern astrologers who focus on natal horoscopes, working from the ground up within the predictive hierarchy. A favorable natal configuration activated dynamically means nothing to world affairs if there is no linkage to mundane themes.

In what follows, I focus primarily on the influence of Jupiter-Saturn hard aspects and

eclipses on American Presidential Contests. This paper is by no means comprehensive; as I said at the outset it is in the form of an extended blogpost. But it should help give those interested in the 2012 USA Presidential Contest some tools to work with which I believe have been overlooked.

The Hamilton-Jefferson Rivalry and the Birth of American Political Parties Entire careers in the history profession have been devoted to this topic which astrologically can be solved in several sentences. The Federalist party of Alexander Hamilton, which sought formation of a strong central government, especially in matters of finance, is signified by Capricorn. The Democratic-Republican Party of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, which idealized the yeoman farmer as the anchor of a decentralized political structure, is signified by Virgo.

Hamilton’s horoscope is dominated by a Capricorn stellium with Saturn/Capricorn his victor.

Jefferson’s horoscope is anchored by Jupiter/Virgo in the 4th house of property though Mercury/Pisces is arguably his victor.

Jupiter/Virgo-rx in both horoscopes is significant. For Hamilton, Moon applies to Jupiter/Virgo-rx ruling the 11th of politics placed in the 5th house of elections (my house assignment). Retrograde planets often manifest as though the planet were placed in the opposite sign, especially from the time of the first station to opposition (for superior planets) and from the first station to inferior conjunction (for inferior planets). Accordingly for Hamilton, Moon applying to Jupiter/Virgo-rx means a REJECTION of the yeoman farmer political ideology of Thomas Jefferson.

Though Jupiter/Virgo is also retrograde for Jefferson, note Jupiter has past the opposition to the Sun and will turn direct about two weeks after birth. For Jefferson, Jupiter/Virgo-rx is acting more like Jupiter/Virgo-direct.

This brief discussion is necessary background for why Jefferson won the USA Presidential Election of 1800 which was the most significant realignment of political power away from the Federalists who had dominated American political power since the Revolution of 1776. Why? Because Jefferson’s Jupiter/Virgo was recapitulated by the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Virgo. In fact, Jefferson’s Jupiter was within one degree of the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction of 1802.

This is why Jefferson won the election of 1800. Somebody needed to live out the mundane configuration of the 1802 Jupiter-Saturn horoscope. And that person was Thomas Jefferson.

The Rise of Franklin Roosevelt (1932-1945)

From a mundane perspective, Roosevelt’s political tenure is tied to both eclipse and Jupiter-Saturn cycles. Shortly after his election in November 1932, the North Node made its Aquarius Ingress on 26-Jul-1933 where it would remain through 11-Feb-1935. A series of eclipses on 21-Aug-1933, 14-Feb-1934 and 10-Aug-1934 accentuated FDR’s Sun/Aquarius and diminished his secret enemies with a South Node Leo solar eclipse in the 12th house. Significant features of New Deal legislation were implemented during this time. By his third election cycle, FDR remained a viable candidate because his own Jupiter-Saturn conjunction was recapitulated in 1940. Knowing these mundane connections in advance, one can then turn to natal factors and see that during October 1932 before the November 1932 election, FDR had a primary direction linking Jupiter to the Moon by conjunction. In my research, the Moon signifies the public when an individual is running for office. Venus-Moon or Jupiter-Moon dynamic contacts are critical for success in political contests.

Campaign ’80 and the Reagan Revolution

Why did Reagan win? Because the 1st Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of 1980 was conjunct his natal Lot of Fortune placed in the 10th house within one degree.

Moreover the 1980 JSC has Mercury/Capricorn cazimi, similar to the configuration of Mercury/Capricorn placed in the 1st house of his joy: Reagan as the ‘Great Communicator.’

One can go further and see in Nancy Reagan’s horoscope (not shown) a recapitulation of the Sun/Cancer and Saturn/Libra found in the Regulus USA National Horoscope. Sun/Cancer signifies the USA President and Saturn/Libra is the Sun’s killing planet; this is one reason why an assassination attempt was made against Reagan.

The Disputed 2000 Bush/Cheney – Gore/Lieberman Presidential Election Contest

The disputed election of 2000 went to the Bush-Cheney ticket not because the election was stolen, but because the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Taurus was recapitulated in the horoscope of Republican VP candidate Dick Cheney. Interestingly, the horoscope of Democratic VP candidate had a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Taurus – but the Jupiter-Saturn in Cheney’s horoscope was the closer recapitulation to mundane cycles.

This is my latest rectification attempt for Cheney which timed his recent heart transplant by solar arc Mars = DSC. A prior rectification attempt with Virgo rising timed the transplant by trMars-rx conjunct the ASC degree. [A Geoffrey Cornelius moment for me ;)].

For those mundane astrology students, pay attention to the Egyptian bound placement of the 1940 and 2000 Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions. The 1940 JSC was placed in the bound of Jupiter-Taurus; the 2000 JSC, Saturn-Taurus. This is a big deal. FDR natal has Moon separating from Saturn applying to Jupiter, signifying abundance and deliverance from scarcity – recapitulated by the JSC in the bound of Jupiter/Taurus. Placement of the 2000 JSC in the bound of Saturn-Taurus suggests Saturn will be the prevalent influence until 2020; e.g., resource scarcity and the destruction of banks. Big difference. Consider Cheney’s function in fulfilling the promise of a Saturn-Taurus themed 20 years from 2000 to 2020 as an overall framework for mundane predictions. Just sayin… So what about Bush Jr.?

Bush Jr. has Jupiter/Libra square Saturn/Cancer which – you guessed it – reappeared just in time for Bush Jr.’s successful 2004 Presidential election.

And though the actual waxing Jupiter-Saturn square of 2005 occurred in Scorpio-Leo (and not in Libra-Cancer which would have fully recapitulated the square in Bush Jr.’s horoscope),

Nevermind because this configuration was recapitulated in First Lady Laura Bush’s horoscope!

So we have both George and Laura to thank for the 2004 re-election of the Bush-Cheney ticket.

The 2008 Presidential Campaign

If anyone remembers predictions on the 2008 USA Presidential Election made during the fall of 2007, John McCain’s campaign was written off and Barrack Obama was not on the map. The 2008 Presidential Election was to be a grudge match between Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton.

Though Giuliani’s Sun/Gemini recapitulates the Sun/Gemini in the 28-May-2000 JSC, arguably Giuliani is more of a Leo personality as is Clinton. Here I will switch gears focusing on the role of eclipses. Critical to the timing of Barack Obama’s Presidential victory was placement of the Nodes along the Leo-Aquarius axis. With the North Node placed in Aquarius, third party idealistic political movements benefit at the expense of established political machines which were destroyed by the South Node in Leo.

Nodal transits through the signs are intensified by eclipses and 2008 was no different:

The 7-Feb-2008 North Node solar eclipse placed in the bound of Jupiter/Aquarius spotlighted the prospects of Barack Obama after strong showings in Iowa and New Hampshire. Recall that Hillary Clinton had planned to essentially have the nomination wrapped up by this time and had no major campaign strategies planned after February.

The 7-Feb-2008 eclipse fell in Obama’s 1st house with the bound placement of the eclipse recapitulated by Jupiter/Aquarius in Obama’s 1st which would soon make its return. This eclipse is why Obama upset Hillary Clinton as the presumptive Democratic Presidential Candidate.

At the natal level, in addition to having favorable dynamic activity to one’s Moon, sometimes simply the placement of Jupiter and Saturn can make a big difference. For Hillary Clinton, for most of 2007 when she was the presumptive nominee, she had a Jupiter return with Jupiter/Sagittarius/5th highlighted. As soon as Jupiter changed signs to Capricorn, Clinton fell off the radar screen and John McCain’s fortunes rocketed. Why the McCain revival? Because the Jupiter/Capricorn transit highlighted McCain’s natal Moon. But there was more. The sign of McCain’s Moon is also occupied by the North Node which was highlighted as major Fidaria ruler. The Node kicked in.

From a natal perspective, the problem for McCain is that the Moon-North Node Capricorn conjunction is placed in the 4th house which signifies the opposition party (though it didn’t seem to hurt Jefferson in 1800). Luckily for McCain he didn’t win. In traditional mundane astrology, South Node in the 10th signifies “The King is Deposed” which means McCain wouldn’t have made it through his first term as the North Node Fidaria period lasts only 3 years before handing over to the South Node as Fidaria major period ruler for the next 2 years..

And let us not forget the Sarah Palin phenomenon.

Without checking this horoscope carefully (my initial rectification was for a later time, Libra rising), one need only listen to the tenor of Palin’s intellectual hostility to identify Mars/Aquarius as the victor of her horoscope. [For the other prominent example of this planet/sign configuration in US Presidential politics, see William Crawford and the election of 1924 as the epitome of partisan politics in American is Born: Introducing the Regulus USA National Horoscope, p. 105 and p. 301].

And why did McCain announce Palin on 29-Aug-2008? Because on 16-Aug-2008, a North Node Lunar eclipse in the bound of Mars/Aquarius promised the rise of a partisan female to wage war against intellectuals. Significantly, bound ruler Mars/Virgo is the planet/sign combination associated with natural resource extraction, an industry for which Alaska is known.

The Election of 2012

Cast for the moment Mercury goes retrograde at 6:04 p.m. on election day, just like 2000, Mercury’s station promises an undecided election, doubly so as Jupiter/Gemini is also retrograde and with both planets in detriment in each other’s sign – this should be a real shit show. With Mercury also the significator of astrology, this appears an impossible prediction exercise.

Note the Jupiter-Mercury opposition is placed in the 1st-7th axis of Romney’s horoscope. Though not a Jupiter-Saturn recapitulation, it may well be that placement of this ‘mundane’ configuration on election day in Romney’s 1st-7th house axis is why Romney is now the presumed Republican nominee.

See also at the time of the November 2012 election, transiting North Node is placed in the bound of Saturn/Scorpio, recapitulated by Saturn in Scorpio itself. This configuration aligns with Romney’s natal Moon which is placed in the bound of Saturn/Scorpio. As Saturn/Scorpio signifies paranoia and the need for security, should the public feel the need for Romney’s strong man security persona at the time of the election, the public may choose Romney.

Also keep in mind that Saturn in all water signs is associated with flooding (remember Saturn/Cancer – Katrina?). [Earth to astrologers: flooding is Saturn in water signs NOT Neptune! Please don’t make me puke!]. For the importance of Saturn/Scorpio in USA political history, look no further than the horoscope of Prescott Bush (the grandfather) whose Saturn/Scorpio was recapitulated during Hurricane Connie (11-Aug-1955), Hurricane Diane (17-Aug-1955), and the subsequent Connecticut flood of 1955 nicknamed ‘Black Friday.’ As a result of these disasters, Prescott Bush drafted Public Law 71, (a.k.a. ‘Bush Hurricane Survey Act’) which enabled the Army Corps of Engineers to develop community protection against tidal flooding.

Let me just say this: should we get a large hurricane this October before the election, the response of the Obama administration will be a critical factor for his election prospects. For any President, disaster response can be a critical factor so the observation here is simply common sense – no astrology needed. From a mundane astrology perspective, placement of Saturn in Scorpio amplified by the North Node placed in the bound of Saturn/Scorpio simply means a hurricane/flood/disaster has to be given a higher than random weight in scenario analysis.
