We are doing quite well in our recruitment efforts and our membership attendance remains high. We have the potential of doing great things in our community. We are on the way to being a 100% American Legion Post. I ask your assistance in making this happen. Ask fellow veterans who you know that are not members to join. I personally think and feel that all veterans (who are eligible) should belong to a Veterans Organization. As I conclude my comments for the April Edition of the Post Newsletter I wish each of you and yours a Happy Easter. Likewise, I wish you continued good health and prosperity. April - Charles Lewis - Editor 2018

Greetings All;

I trust that all is going well with each of you and your family members. As

many of you probably know we are finally back in the bar side of the Post.

We (the Building Commission) plan to have an official/dedicated re-opening

ceremony at a later date.

At our March General Membership Meeting we opened the nominations

for 2017-2018 Officers. Nominations will remain open and will be closed at

our April General Membership Meeting. Fellow Legionnaires I hope that

you would give consideration to stepping up and assuming a leadership role

in your Legion. We are doing quite well in our recruitment efforts and our

membership attendance remains high. We have the potential of doing

great things in our community. We are on the way to being a 100%

American Legion Post. I ask your assistance in making this happen. Ask

fellow veterans who you know that are not members to join. I personally

think and feel that all veterans (who are eligible) should belong to a

Veterans Organization.

As I conclude my comments for the April Edition of the Post Newsletter I

wish each of you and yours a Happy Easter. Likewise, I wish you continued

good health and prosperity.

Respectfully

Ronald Dickens

National Commander Denise H. Rohan receives a plaque Breakfast Forum Panel on Diversity

Membership Forum Challenge Ways to Appreciate Diversity

Randolph Furey Post 190, located in Indian Head, Md., gave a membership breakfast forum featuring the National

Commander of the American Legion, Denise H. Rohan.

Commander Rohan is the first woman to hold the prestigious position in the Legion’s 99-year history.

The topic of the forum was “Strengthening our Organization by Examining Lessons Learned in Diversity and

Leadership.”

“Don’t forget about the Vietnam veterans,” remarked National Commander Rohan. “Another part of this is respecting one

another no matter what it is…respecting your elders and also respecting the young ones. We all have our own stories; if

we just take time to listen to one another, and understand why.”

The first female National Commander of the American Legion, Denise H. Rohan, was honored and celebrated with an

evening banquet by the American Legion Department of Maryland on March 17.

The banquet was held at the Harry White Wilmar American Legion Post 82 in La Plata, Md.

According to the legion’s Department of Maryland’s publication The Free State Warrior, National Commander Rohan

was elected by the two million-member American Legion on Aug. 24, 2017 in Reno, Nev. during the 99th National

Convention.

Rohan’s theme as National Commander is “Family First.” Her goal is the fundraising project in the Temporary Financial

Assistance Program, which awards cash grants to children of veterans eligible for American Legion membership. The

grants assist families in need of shelter, food, utilities, and healthcare.

“We are making a difference in this nation, to make sure what we’re doing is not in vain,” said Rohan to the audience.

“Ninety-nine years of being here, what it means to be American, what it means to give back.”

Rohan received gifts from other commanders that included a basket of items, a plaque, decorative glasses, and monied

checks for her service.

The Call to Order, Pledge of Allegiance, Introduction of Guests, Presentation of Gifts, Special Announcements, and

Closing were given in the program by North East Shore District Commander Nikki Randolph, who served as National
