1) Attend an Export Readiness Seminar to
gain specific professional information
needed to sell products in the global
market.
2) Take enterprises that have export ready
products to international trade shows and
on trade missions throughout Europe, Asia
and Canada.
Requirements
Tribal Enterprise or Indian-owned business (at least51%) and sales need to tie into reservationeconomy.
Business needs to be primarily agriculture/foodbusiness.
Main Person Attending and participating in one ofthe Export Readiness Seminars and tradeshowsmust have authority to sign contracts, discuss andnegotiate terms of sale and prices.

Enterprise/Company needs to have on thepackaging, or have applied with the IAC, for the useof the “Made By American Indians” trademark andhave it prominently displayed.
Business need to have FDA/USDA certification onproducts and manufacturing procedures. If neededHACCP certification must be obtained before travel.
Main person selling product at the show needs to beAmerican Indian.

Promotional material needs to be developed thatdescribes the product, its story and the process ofmanufacturing and prices.
Product must be available in commercial quantitiesand sufficient to give away as samples attradeshows. It needs to be transportable andpackaged so that it can be displayed in aprofessional manner.

Businesses participating in tradeshows need toprovide effective follow up to trade leads.
Businesses need to complete all trip reports,contribution reports and show evaluation forms.
Forms must be submitted in final format forreimbursement and payment.

This trademark is for all American Indian people to
use on their products, whatever they might be.
The trademark is to certify
authenticity of the “Native” or
“Indian” made products.
AGRICULTURE REQUIREMENTS
“MADE BY AMERICAN
INDIANS”
• Livestock products - must be fed in Indian
Country for at least 60 days prior to
processing/slaughtering
• Crop production - must be grown in Indian
Country at least 60 days prior to harvesting
MANUFACTURING
REQUIREMENTS
• Processed agriculture products or
manufactured goods – no less than 80% of the
featured product component or at least 60% of
the total product by weight was produced by
American Indians
• An eligible product was processed in a plant
at least 51% owned by American Indians
DISPLAY REQUIREMENTS
• Stickers can be
obtained from the IAC
- currently they are a
black logo on a yellow
permanent sticker
• Trademark can be
incorporated into
packaging
HOW TO APPLY
• Submit a completed application including
proof of enrollment in a federally
recognized Tribe or Alaska Village or a
resolution from a Tribal entity
• Application is reviewed by IAC and
approval within 30 days of receipt of
complete & accurate applications.
