AMBULATORY SURGICAL CENTERS (ASCs):

These are medical facilities specializing in elective same-day or outpatient surgical procedures. Patients treated in these facilities are not required to be admitted to the hospital and usually are well enough to leave after the procedure. ASCs can perform a wide range of procedures, including but not limited to ophthalmology (eye), gastroenterology, orthopedic, otolaryngology (ear), gynecology, dental, urological, neurological, podiatric, and plastic surgery, etc.

These are non-profit organizations aiming to provide health service learning opportunities and improve the education and training of health professionals, primarily primary care providers, in rural or underserved communities. These are services designed to facilitate the process of recovery from injury, illness, or disease and restore various physical functioning to as normal as possible. Rehabilitation services assist the patient to compensate for deficits that cannot be treated medically. Some of these services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Other types of therapists, such as inhalation, audiologists, and dietitians may also be part of the professional team as needed. Urgent Care centers are set up to assist patients with the provision of immediate outpatient medical services for the treatment of acute or chronic illnesses or injuries that are not life-threatening but also cannot wait until the next day or for the primary care physician to see them.
