Responsibility and SinThe Church identifies venial sin and mortal

sin. Mortal sin leads to death – it is the rejection of God.

Something only counts as mortal sin if :- It is serious- You acted freely- You knew that what you did was wrong- You intended to do wrong on purposeWhich of the following could make it

less of a sin? • Strong peer pressure/ coercion• Great fear or anxiety• Extreme tiredness • deep emotional or psychological wounds• Being in the habit of sin: you have got used

to doing it so it almost feels ok. You lose your sense that it is wrong.

1. What are the conditions that have to be met, before something is a mortal sin?

2. Which of the conditions is hardest to decide about? Why?

3. Explain one thing that could make a mortal sin less of a sin & why.

**How are the conditions for sin different from what a judge would say makes something wrong?
