Solar Cars
•A solar car is a light weight, low power vehicle designed and built with a single purpose in mind – racing.
•They have limited seating they have very little cargo capacity, and they can only be driven during the day.

Nuna II, a Dutch Solar Car won the World Solar challenge, a 3000 km race that crosses Australia.
The car took 30 hours, 54 minutes - it hit a top speed of 105mph in 2007
In 2008, the race1100 miles, taking the teams from Austin, TX, USA to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Won by the University of Michigan, its 5th victory,
Speeds running up to 65mph
Electric Cars
A typical EV holds at most 25 kwh of power, the energy equivalent of about two-thirds of a gallon of gasoline, on which many people can commute to work for an entire week (about 140 miles, top speed 180mph).
6.8 hours to recharge. 150-200 miles on a charge
The City of Vancouver Canada trialed electric vehicles in 2002.
The “Think City” and the “Ranger EV” are fully electric, zero emission vehicles that are being leased from the Ford Motor.

Clean cars could have been sold for $25,000 each, cash, no rebates to
loving buyers
Instead, GM crushed and then shredded them, sending the remains
to the foundry. They spent $500m on the project

Magnetic Levitation
Who Uses It?
Japan & Germany have test tracks China will have the 1st functioning system in
2003– Covers 19 miles in less than 10 minutes

How do they work?
Electrodynamic Suspension Models
EDS is used in Japan – Train levitates 10 cm off track– Train rolls on rubber wheels until
“take off” speed of 25 mphWheels can be also be used if
the electromagnet fails

Electromagnetic Suspension Models
EMS is used in Germany Developed by Transrapid Can go up to 300 mph with passengers on

Vehicles Run on Bio-Diesel,
Vegetable Oil or Grease
Bio_Diesel is produced from feedstock including soybean oil and recycled waste oils such as restaurant grease. 100% organic, completely biodegradable and non-toxic to plants, animals and humans.
A blend of 20% bio-diesel and 80% petroleum diesel is the most commonly used blend. It can be used in any diesel vehicle

Hybrid Cars
The Prius is, the cleanest emissions rating next to zero emissions.
HONDA CIVIC HYBRID
TOYOTA PRIUS Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV
Toyota's Fuel-Cell Hybrid Vehicles (FCHV)
The Fortwo is small outside at only 2.5m long, yet it offers all of the comfort of a large saloon. It has a top speed of 84mph and accelerates from 0-60mph in only 15.5 seconds, yet returns an average fuel consumption of 60mpg.
